My gut was extremely damaged from abx. That's why I had to go on natural treatments. It will heal in time. There's a lot of great ideas on the forum about how to heal your gut. Do a search and you'll find some excellent idea.

Sorry you're suffering with this. It's miserable, I know, but in time it will get better. I still suffer from the affects of abx, I hope to have complete healing from it at some point. Lots of probiotics, kefir, yogurt (no sugar) and marshmallow root tea is a good place to start.

Others will be around I'm sure offering their ideas.

Gary

I had terrible gut issues. I ate lots of probiotic rich food - kefir (homemade), kombucha, and raw sauerkraut.

Triphala.

Dr. Natura.

Humaworm.

My gut did finally heal, but it took more than a year.

Aloe is NOT good for an inflammed or irritated gut. It is a known irritant to mucus membranes, which is what the entire GI tract is.

Have you been tested for C-Diff? I would start there and take the advice of using probiotics like the Kefir, or homemade yogurt, Sauerkraut, etc.. I use slippery elm powder mixed with a little water at night before bed. It heals the entire GI tract including the bladder.. Taking a binder or psyllium could help with the diarrhea..

Yes, I know someone in my family that had/has this. Of course she never had lyme??? She just felt better after illness that struck her as freshman at college when she took abx.

One day it turned to no BM and she would go a month with nothing. She would go from constipation to runs. Fevers of unknown origin?
The GI specialists calls it unknown bad bacteria. His answer was steroids? yeah

She moved out of state and found doc that finally gave her rx that changed her life. I will email her and find name of drug.

She could finally go back to living her life without having to have toilet close by for never knowing what was coming.

Yes, I took two probiotic pills a day while taking my antibiotics. They seemed to help.

Just didn't know if I should continue the same amount, back it off to one a day, once a week or stop completely.

Thanks,

landofoz, love the name. I think the bad guy is still ruling your GI track. The majority of immune system is in the GI and so the bad guy(s) are ruling your world.

Yes, it might be yeast and combo of more bacteria that have not died off.

Tutu says probiotic alone will not take care of these GI issues alone with yeast. You got to fight harder.

Get some Diflucan and see how you do on it. Continue taking high quality probiotics and following the diet for at least a year.

Excellent probiotics:

Whatever you take, take at least 100 CFU's per day. Wish someone had told me that 10 yrs ago!

DIET, DIET, DIET is the key. Then, be sure to follow the 5 step plan outlined below. It was developed by my naturopath. It works.

"Successful control and elminiation of a Candida Albicans overgrowth requires a multifaceted program as described below. Failure to follow ALL the steps simultaneously will result in slow progress and will lengthen healing time significantly. The program should be tailored to the individual and must balance the need to eliminate the Candida and deprive it of its food source while insuring proper nutrition for the individual."

Five Steps to Candida Elimination:

1. You must starve it into submission by eliminating its food source.

2. You must kill it with anti-fungal herbs and supplements. [e.g....garlic, onion, caprylic acid, Pau D'Arco capsules or tea, clove, grapefruit seed extract, olive leaf extract, oil of oregano, tea tree oil, Echinacea, Goldenseal, black walnut, MSM, barberry root, uva ursi, neem leaf, biotin]

3. You must reestablish the proper balance and quantity of probiotic bacteria in the digestive tract. [...multi-strain lactobacillus acidophilus and bifidus capsules with FOS should be taken between meals to maximize repopulation of the digestive tract by beneficial bacteria.]

4. You must reestablish proper levels of all B vitamins (yeast free) and utilize other immune enhancing supplements to boost immune system function. [e.g ... B complex vitamins (yeast free), biotin, beta 1-3 glucan, colostrum, maitake mushroom, vitamins A, C, E, zinc and selenium]

5. You must cleanse and heal the digestive tract to promote proper elimination of toxins and Candida and assimilation of nutrients. [e.g...chlorophyll, MSM, omega 3 fatty acids found in flax seed and salmon oils, GLA found in borage, evening primrose and black currant oils. Pantothenic acid, digestive enzymes between meals]

i use florastor and i was told to have two or four a day but ...hehe, I take 6 which is the max. i took these too when i came down with a stomach flu from a hospital visit for an MRI (I knew I'd regret using the bathroom) my diarrhea was gone within 24 hours. my dad, who ALWAYS gets less sick than me picked up what i had and had D for more than a week.

I used another probiotic that had more live cultures but of a different strain and it really did nothing.

Update:

Thanks for all the tips. I have been taking probiotics, kefir and have taken gluten out of my diet and my stomach/gut problems have improved a lot.
