Does anybody have issues with their tongue, teeth and/or mouth?

My tongue burns and sometimes feels larger than normal. Sometimes it feels like it's getting back to normal, them WHAM. It's back to hurting again.

My teeth feel numb. I know that sounds weird, but I catch myself tapping my uppers and lowers together to see if I can get some feeling.

And my mouth just feels overall strange. A pressure-like feeling.

I do have short stretches where these things almost go completely away, but it never lasts.

I do not see a white coating, and am taking Diflucan twice a week and Nystatin the other 5 days.

Anybody else?

Ham, no you are not strange. Couple things came to mind.

Your mouth is a copy of the gut/GI. Also cranal nerves could be inflamed that go to the mouth.

Or it's just lyme disease hiding out in and around your teeth mouth area.

Do a search on this site and you will find tons of reading on the tongue and teeth. Chinese medicine & the tongue might be interesting to you.

Ham,

I've had these issues for about 6 months now. They just started out of the blue.

My mouth and tongue feel similiar to what you are describing.

I've heard its nerves, inflammation, babesia, but who knows.

Sorry you are having these issues too.

Yes i have had pain in my teeth and jaw. My jaw pain is mostly gone, but my teeth are hurting as we speak. It still lingers. I have it for a few days and then it might go away for awhile, but it comes back. I have had this for about two years now. Thanks for posting this question.

I hate that others have this, but whew! I'm glad it's not just me.

Right now I feel like I licked a frying pan, but my tongue looks normal.

And in a few days it may feel just fine.

Do you have any facial tingling or numbness? I definately have tingling and have had it for about 2 years as well. Maybe that has something to do with it.

Yes, tongue issues, always, prior to dx and still now after tx for 3 years. Numb, burn, feels swollen (though isn't), even has tremor, etc. etc. Have also had facial numbness and slightly twitchy too.

I have always assumed it's cranial nerve issues due to Lyme and Co's.....very bothersome, ugh. Good luck. TS

Teeth symptoms are my worst symptoms. I have migrating tooth pain. Sometimes one tooth hurts and sometimes all my teeth hurt. My face is numb and tingles at times. If I touch my face it goes completely numb where I touched it. The pain has moved go my ears and eyes. It has gotten so much worse even with treatment.

I'm so sorry you're experiencing this too. It is pretty awful.

This is a stretch, but if there's any connection with Lyme biofilms in the mouth, then it could be worth experimenting with this remedy, which is very easy to do -

Swish a little sesame oil or sunflower oil around in your mouth for 20 minutes, letting your saliva collect, then spit out -

Whenever I do this, it reduces any gum pain. It's an ayurvedic remedy.

I've been doing this with coconut oil.

I have tremors in my tongue and that's one of the criteria for ALS. My tongue is also swollen and has ridges (scalloped) on the sides since it presses against my teeth.

When I am herxing, my teeth hurt and the pain migrates.

No, I don't get any relief from it. I don't know why I even bother.

Doing this with coconut oil should combat yeast (thrush), so it is fine to continue.

I get this too, started when I began treating babesia. I have tongue inflammation that I think goes into my stomach also. My neck is also swollen in front and back. So It could be like txgirl said: nerves, inflammation, babesia ect... It sucks! I feel like I could choke on my tongue.

I read that you should always swish with sesame or sunflower oil (called, oil pulling) to get rid of toxins in the mouth. Any other oil is not as effective for that purpose.

Swishing with sesame oil for 20 minutes really works for me, to reduce gum pain, which may prove that I have a very toxic mouth - oh joy.

Hello,

I'm writing to share my LD dental experience.

I got this problem a few weeks after starting abx (6 months ago)and finally it ended up with the fatal result.

I have suffered from "untypical" MS (multiple sclerosis) for 8 years -eventually I figure out that it's LD and co-infections so I started ILADS treatment.

On the beginning I felt my teeth as if they were made from stone, after- like in this description:

http://www.mdjunction.com/forums/lyme-disease-support- forums/general-support/2204442-my-teeth-feel-soft-and-numb

Now I lost any feeling in teeth- actually -as if I have no teeth inside my mouth. When I put my uppers and lowers together- feel absolutely nothing. The same about pulling the teeth by my tongue...

I don't have any idea if it's strange result of current treatment or just LD is still making a progress No pain, just neurological sensations...

Did anybody experience something similar?

Best wishes and thanks for all the pieces of advice!

Sorry for my English, but I am Polish and my language skills are really far away from being perfect. Especially now- when I have some "brain fog" and very serious neurological pbs.

Ewa

Some people (including me) have neuro symptoms related to the trigeminal nerve. Teeth, jaw, tongue, face, and forehead. What exactly it is in relation to Lyme disease, ? Sensations can come and go, be gone for days-weeks, then return, without any observable changes in oral health. My last lingering symptoms besides insomnia.

Also, Vitamin B12 deficiency can cause loss of sense of taste, tongue numbness and/or burning, and a variety of other neurological issues. Some MD's actually use Vitamin B12 to help treat Bell's Palsy and MS (among other neuro. issues) in addition to whatever other treatments they're providing with some success (search PubMed and Google if you want references).

Lyme is known to inflame cranial nerves, which is how it causes Bell's Palsy. I think personally that this is how it causes a lot of other teeth/mouth/tongue/throat issues as well.

My tongue is swollen - "scalloped tongue" - anyone have suggestions on how to reduce the swelling of the tongue and the digestive track?

I have been taking LiverLife for 8 months. While I am taking it, my tongue is not so bad. When I stop, it's terrible too.

I have liver pain too, so I know it's not just my tongue, it's the whole digestive system.

I am hurting. [Frown]

May health be with you!

Toxic mold was suppressing our immune systems, causing extreme pain, brain fog and magnifying symptoms. Four days after moving out, the healing began.

SEA BUCKTHORN OIL

has really helped the ulcers and "burning mouth" that I've had for years. I've tried everything and SBO has been the best help.

Immediate soothing and also helps moisten and nourish "dry mouth" -

I have been having Dental problems for many years, and I have always been obsessive about my teeth. When my lyme symptoms became unbearable, about two yeas ago, a numb tongue was one of my most consistent symptoms. I still have it. It can go away for a week or two, but always seems to come back.

I have lost two teeth in this battle, so far, and I am still fighting some pretty bad oral health problems. Things seem to have turned around since getting a bit into the Westone Price method. - Blue Ice fermented Cod oil/Royal Butter caps is an absolutely amazing product. Bone marrow broth is very good as well. Right now I truly believe I have a chance by doing these things.
