Had another round of IVIG today. Just like last visit/treatment my WBCC is in normal range for the first time in years. I don't have the foggiest idea what to think of it - or what it could mean. I don't feel any better/different. My counts have been elevated the past 15 years - cause unknown - bacteria, EBV, LD? ??? I cannot connect the dots between IVIG and what it is doing that is effecting my counts seemingly in a good way. Help. Tks.
PS - sorry complete brain fog here - do folks with LD typically have low or high WBCc?

WBC's vary depending on each individual's immune system and specific mix of pathogens. Mine run on the low to low-normal side. And I have really low T-Cell counts even if my total WBC count is normal.
Here is my understanding of how IvIg works: IvIg provides antibodies to the bloodstream. If the WBC count is low from an unrecognized infection (i.e., unrecognized by the body's immune system due to a low antibody level), then providing antibodies to facilitate recognition of that infection will likely restore WBC counts and also help with fighting whatever infection(s) is/are present.
Take care,

Tested again before IVIG - this is the lowest WBCc I have had in 15 years. Had averaged in 15 range - have gone from being in the range of 10, to 9 - now is 7.7 - on IVIG and don't know what to think. I still feel very sick - no improvement. The different doctor I saw said that high WBCc usually from bacteria not virus. Again, other than CVID I still have no Dx. CFS, fibro, Sjogren's, Lyme? Autoimmune? Unknown? WBCc in normal range - when still sick - is that a good thing - a bad thing - a misleading thing? - diagnostic in any way? I just took my temp as felt feverish - 99.4 deg F. No surprise. I will see my main doctor in a few weeks. Just hate going there. Hours in the car as passenger so painful. For a 15 minute appointment where I leave more confused. No one knows what is wrong with me and I am close to giving up. So many symptoms - so many WB bands - and still being told by someone "in the know" that I probably don't have LD - look elsewhere. What else could cause my reaction to so many bands? When one is sick and has high WBCc - that means infection, right? And one should feel better when the WBCc goes back to normal?

- Not necessarily. How much did it change?

For years in the 11-18 range. After a few months of IVIG - even a low dose of only 10g - yesterday it was 7.7 - RR is something like 4.5 -10.5 - varies a bit by lab.

In my experience with IVIG, my WBC is consistently lower while on it so it doesn't surprise me that yours is lower also. My understanding is that it's only temporary though and not a reflection of the "true" white count. It's sort of like immune-suppression in that your body is just making less while under IVIG treatment.
