I've been doing fairly well until about 2 weeks ago.
No new tick bite that I know of.
School is out, so basically less stress.
My lower back started hurting.
Coincided with a period. The period that just stopped two days ago (11 days).
I just spotted for the last 4-5 days.
Other than that it was a normal 28 day cycle (suprise there).
My periods can be anywhere from 21 days to 40.
I've done a lot of lifting this past week with cleaning up.
I have never hurt my back before. I know I am getting older, but.....
The top of my buttocks hurt. Now, my hips hurt and are waking me up.
Some joint pain migrating around in my fingers and knees.
Hot flashes, especially at night.
I could be in early menapause.
Cold hands and feet, but I always have that.
Just don't seem to "feel" better.
Feel like something is "wrong" with me.
You know how you know your body....well mine isn't right.
I have an appointment to go to my Ob on Monday to rule out female issues.
Scared about that.
In the back of my mind I am thinking.....relapse? Something worse?
That doomsday feeling.
I have recently lost about 3 lbs, but I am outside sweating all day long.
No signs of a bladder/kidney infection, but the pain is across the top of my behind.
Should I just bite the bullet and make an appointment to see my LLMD?
Thanks in advance for any ideas or suggestions.
Hugs,
Geneal

Geneal,
I wouldn't worry like you are.
I would make an appt with your LLMD, especially if the wait is long.
Just to cross all bridges.
You very well may have been rebitten. My sons teacher found a deer tick walking across the reading table at school where a handfull were sitting reading their books.
I'm not in menopause yet, but that seems like an awful lot of symptoms for that. Likely you over did it cleaning and/or you got rebit.
Hang in there. Take some Ibuprofen and rest. Make your appts. with Gyn/LLMD, and see if it just doesn't go away as fast as it came.
up for more thoughts-

Hey G,
Good to see you!
Reach around and touch the area on either side of the spine, about (just above and below) where a belt would go across if you were wearing one.
Feel each vertebra carefully and lightly push in the muscle areas around it. Feel soreness and/or pain?
If so, a chiropractor may be needed. The lifting could have twisted your back and you have some pinching of nerves and resulting inflammation causing a problem.
If that is the case, and that is the source of the problem, the nerves to the bladder, kidney, girly organs, and especially the hip can be out of whack.
I absolutely am not diagnosing you, just suggesting this might need to be checked out.
That would be the first thing I'd check if it were me. Of course please do keep your other appointment(s). Now that you are not running 110% on doing school stuff, it is time to care for YOU!
If that doesn't help, try putting your left forefinger in your right ear while singing three verses of Dixie. It has no medical purpose, but it should make you laugh.

Sorry you're feeling badly... I do know that doomsday feeling.
Sounds like it might be something hormonal (??) Or maybe you over exerted yourself in the heat and in the process hurt your back? I know that the heat bothers me more that it did before...
I'm not a doctor, so I really don't know what to tell you.. Maybe make the LLMD appt. just so you have it. You can always cancel if things clear up or if it turns out to be something else.
Hope you feel better soon.

Thanks you all!
Tincup, you certainly did make me laugh.
Thanks. I needed that.
The pain is about 1.5-2.0 inches on both sides of my spine and the right side feels like a lump.
I've had no abnormal girlie issues.
But this back pain kind of feels like back cramps from a period.
Except advil and aleve just aren't touching it.
It is mostly constant, but I do get times during the day when it doesn't bother me.
Night time is mostly pain free except for the hips.
I did pull a deer tick off my dog yesterday.
It wasn't embedded, just crawling around.
So, yes. Ticks are active, but they always are here.
I have some amoxil. That is what my LLMD Rx's for my summer months.
Should I run a course and see if I herx?
I hate feeling bad.
I am pretty sure my progesterone levels are low.
Probably adrenal fatigue too.
I don't mean to sound like a whiner.
Really things could be worse.
I just hate this doomsday feeling.
Thanks so much.
Hugs,
Geneal

Glad you laughed!
Now, crawl out of the Lyme hole you are digging here, the same one many of us dig for ourselves when pain and other "stuff" hits. It is tempting to dig that hole because of all you've been through, but go for the other stuff first.
You said... "The pain is about 1.5-2.0 inches on both sides of my spine and the right side feels like a lump."
BINGO! That's not normal.
The lump could be a tight muscle, inflammation. So please do have it checked by a chiro ASAP.
This intervention has helped me so much you wouldn't believe it. All the "weird" things disappear when the nerves can do their job without being pressured and knotted up.
The fact the hip hurts at night is a clue here. You are laying in a position that makes it worse.
Now, go dunk your head in a big washtub full of cold water and shake your tail feathers. Then let go of the doom.

My lower back hurts in the same place Geneal as well as my hands
Have you done any gardening, bending over, and pulling weeds? This is why I hurt.
I did too much Memorial Day and Tues, I had to rest the whole day. I took a flexeril sp? muscle relaxer and it helped me sleep.
I'm still sore today but it's better. Give yourself a few days to rest. Don't overdo and see how you feel.

Well.......
I guess I am the cause or root of all of my pain.
I lift 50lb bags of horse feed, bales of hay, scoop horse manure daily.
I do garden a lot. Spent a few days about 3-4 weeks ago just weeding and moving rocks.
I also moved a concrete Angel Statue.
You know I couldn't make up my mind where to put it the first 2 times.
I cleaned out the garage last weekend.
Moved a kayak and other things including pushing a 4 wheeler up and over.
I might as well face it.....I am getting old!
I guess this body cannot handle these chores like it used to.
Darn!
Thanks so much for helping me put things into perspective.
I needed a good reality check.
Husband has been a real narcissist lately.
Children fighting.....
I was even depressed for the first time in years on Mother's Day.
I got nothing.....but a fight from my husband.
I think my hormones are out of whack.
Sometimes my life is.
Thanks for grounding me and to all of you for being my friend.
Hugs,

I'm so glad I don't do stupid and lift things I shouldn't. I know my age ladies.
Geneal, I've had lower back issues off an on for 15 mths now. Chiro I was going to at time said I strained my lower back. Not!!!!
The pain actually moved around and went in my right hip to. I was seeing chiro to get insurance to cover his lymphedema bodywork PT.
She was great but she couldn't wipe out what was a UTI infection. UTI abx stopped the pain after few days.
But I'm having waxing and waning of same pain. Just like normal other issues. April I had yearly with gyn and had them do urine and it was negative.
So I'm doing some other urine tests to see who is invading my kidneys and peeing me off. lol

Before menopause I had hot flashes, insomnia, bad leg pain and terrible migraines. That is why I never realized I had babesia when I got bitten by the tick two years after I quit having periods. I thought it was just more of the same.
You can get your hormone levels tested. Bio-identical hormones are a life saver. All that misery will go away.
Hopefully it is not another tick bite.

it could be all these things i guess but i do have one suggestion
i was told for 10 yrs i was in menopause...i didn't realize it is only a blood test to check to see if you are or not
so for 10 yrs i believed the stupid docs who blamed my babs on menopause so it wasn't txed
so-i would push your gyn to do the test...then you really know if you are in meno...peri meno ...or not at all and you should look mmore at bugs
aside from that...if you really hurt your lower back...(the PE teacher in me is coming out now) AFTER the acute part is over, keeping your abs strong can keep a lot of pain away
i have serious disk damage in lumbar plus old pelvis fracture plus sacrum fracture (last fall) and i have no pain most of the time
hold your tummy muscles in a lot...walking...riding...etc thats all it takes for me
but as soon as i am unable to walk at least 20 min a day (or in hosp) the lower back pain comes back
oops neff...i didn't see what you wrote before i wrote this

Just another day at my house.
Two young children, five dogs, two horses, one pig, one mouse and a husband who doesn't help.
I bit the bullet and am doing a biaxin challenge.
I am supposed to go out of town for the weekend to Texas.
My Godson is graduating from high school.
I also found out that I can no longer take aleve for pain.
Horrible stomach cramps, swollen eyes and face.
Sheesh!
I am off to the ob/gyn on Monday.
Praying for nothing female for sure.
I'd rather deal with the Lyme and company than have those issues.
I will ask for the menopause test.
Maybe some valium too.
Maybe just hire a good looking young man (eye candy only)
To help out with all the chores around here.
Thanks again for all of the support.
I will keep you all posted after my ob visit on Monday.
Hugs to all.

Hey,I'm going through the same. My body is really changing. I looked into peri-menapause symtptoms and menapause as well. A lot of my strange symptoms are there like joint pain, irregular periods, not sleeping.
I'm going to the gyno in a few to see if I'm I'm going through that as well. Janice

No fear, it surely sounds like your heading into menopause. Peri starts at ag 30 and gets crazy in your 40's. I just reached 50 and periods stopped for 6 months so far.
Sounds just like I had and have now. 11 day periods, spotting, cramping feeling, breast soreness? My hips and lower back are always hurting now. I was tested by my regular doc and all my hormones are low(menopause) but my adrenals are VERY low..DHEA and coritsol levels which cause these symptoms and anxiety. My GP and LLMD ordered scripst for dhea and cortef for me.Hope it helps..have yours checked (its all in one blood workup). Feel better.

Babesia gave me most of the symptoms you have, especially the weird periods.
Your GYN visit is wise. You never want a problem to go undetected down there.

Geneal, please have gyn do ultra sound of your ovaries. I had this done when one night I went to bed a size 12 and the next morning I woke up a size 14.
That is no joke people. It happened to me two years ago this summer. The ultra sound ruled out ovarian cancer.
That's the only parts I have left. The others became a nightmare soon after lyme & co struck me in 98-99.
I had Plevic Inflammatory Disease since birth of 32 yr old daughter. I couldn't take the pill, so I used an IUD for birth control for 1 1/2 yrs.
By the time the IUD was removed I was infertile and had PID, corrective surgeries three times to remove scar tissue. It came back.
Had fertility spec clean me up to try to have another pregnancy. It didn't happen because the fallopian tubes were scarred and some other issues.
So at 43 yr I had the parts removed that were a great hiding place for the bad bacteria of lyme & co. I imagined removing my parts would take millions of bad boys with them???
Twp years ago ultra sound showed my right ovary all dried up and babely there. My left ovary had a folicle coming off that could be still producing enough hormones and it hadn't shrunk.
I still know my left is alive because I could tell which side I was ovulating every month. My ovaries always were screamers. My left was fussing just 2 weeks ago.
So my blood test that says post menopausal recently kind of says maybe maybe not.
Bloating suddenly in the middle can be a sign of ovarian cancer and that's why I wanted them looked at. The lady that did my ultra sound said many women complain about waitline expansion with peri or post menopausal.
The gyn thought my middle was due to my IBS issues. Maybe so? But the big picture for me was more involved than simple IBS because I know some bad bacteria owns my GI track.
So some doc telling me sx are menopausal is only a doctor trying to make educated guess. Sometimes docs lack in many education areas with us lyme & co patients.
So don't give me a nerve pill and send me on my way.
Geneal, you've done so well with life of late. I just want to make sure you think ouside the box with the big 50,000 puzzle we live in.
Thank goodness it's summer.
Pam
