Has anyone taken cholestyramine and developed painful gas and diahrea from it?

I took one dose (my first dose) two days ago. By the following day, I had painful gas and diahrea. I stopped taking the cholestyrmine. Today, I no longer have diahrea, but I do have loose stools.

That's really the opposite of what it is generally thought to do. I have never noticed it affecting those issues one way or the other, although I do take a relatively low dose.

Yes, I've been told that if anything, it may cause some constipation. I'm taking it now and knock on wood I've had no problems with that.

So no one else has had this reaction? I saw that diahrrea is a listed side effect, but it sounds like constipation is more common.

Good thought. The standard version does have a lot of crap in it. I get it compounded without that stuff for that reason.
