My son tests came back as negative with two bands showing positive on the IGG and Western Blot, 41 and 45. Does anyone know what this means?

Hi,

Band 41 is the flagella of a bacteria, not lyme specific.

Band 45 is not considered lyme specific either.

What you really need to know is that testing is very unreliable, so do not assume that your son does not have lyme because his test is negative....many of us tested negative.

Lyme is a clinical diagnosis based on history, symptoms, exam and labs.

Does your son already have a LLMD who can properly evaluate him?

Also, your post showed up on the board 5 times...lol.

You can delete all the other ones....not this one.

To delete the duplicates...go to each of the other identical threads and click on the little pencil and paper at the top of your post.

A new window opens, check the box that says "delete post?"....then scroll down and click on Edit Post.

I deleted the others .. whew!!

Welcome, Kingwood!! What you may want to do is get another test for Lyme through Igenex Lab.

www.igenex.com Test #188 and 189 is what you need. The other labs do NOT test for all possible bands. The Igenex test runs about $200.
