To tell you the truth, it isn't worth listening to. It is basically the same old, same old ... using a script that could have been written 10 years ago. Same old broken record.
To their credit- they have tried to tighten the noose around our necks a bit more, but the facts they report are so lame I doubt anyone with any sense what-so-ever would even listen to them.
Here is the link. You have to register to listen, and luckily it's free. I'd have hated to waste a dime on this stuff.

What a bunch of hooey!
Hooey- Part 1 Paul Meade- Prevention, Surveillance, Reported Cases, Education They no longer tell people to tuck pant legs into socks. Single application study ongoing. Rodent vaccines in works. [MY NOTE- At least when a mouse is disabled or dies from the vaccine it prevents another human from being harmed.] Deer reduction can help on islands, not so much on the mainland.
AND...
Bumsteere- Same old BS Good to be back at CDC. Lyme clears up on its own, but may take years to do so. We were mentioned- advocacy groups! I don't think they like us. No evidence of chronic infection based on 4 studies, it is all post-Lyme stuff we experience. Most have complete recovery from neuroborelliosis. Autoimmunity may play a role. [NO documentation provided for their lame theories.] Blah, blah, blah...

Hooey Part 2
?? Female speaker- too thick accent to understand... think she said she was from NIH? Words sound like.... Based- Bas-id Further- fur-der Individual- in-da-vid-al Talking about testing- sounds like she is saying tests work well? Can't tell. Tests most helpful in Stage 2 & 3 of LD. Gave up trying to listen- too difficult to understand.

Hooey Part 3
Minnesota State Health Department Section Name- Ruth Linfield, State Epidem and Medical Director Minn Department of Health Incidence is not throughout the state. 1/3 cases reported in kids under 18 years old in MN. Only about 35% of cases meet national definition. [MY NOTE- 65% of doctor/lab reported cases are not counted by them- without even having seen the patient!]
Number of cases increased...
Due to increase of awareness Increase compliance Improved surveillance Expansion of ticks
May 2009 had 40,000 hits on website for Lyme OH MY- treatment can be dangerous Pos IGM and neg IgG is NOT indicative of LD State legislators involved [I don't think they like patient's activism efforts. Last year bill brought before legislators. Agree to engage in moratorium for 5 years. Patients desperate for answers so want more antibiotics. Important to tell dangers of treatment to patients and clinicians. CDC endorsing activism with legislators? Hello?

You know, he's a rheumatologist - lots of money for rheums if they don't diagnose us. As well as for all the other docs too - lots of money to be made off of us. A rehab hospital made 40K off of me once for a month's stay. Plus research grants.
I went back to see a rheumatologist I'd seen along the way, just to see what he'd say now that I'd found out it was Lyme. He refused to accept the positive Lyme dx, and I refused to accept his refusal!
