Does anyone have any experience with wounds or scrapes not healing normally with Lyme Disease? When my son gets a scrape of cut it doesn't heal normally. The wound will remain open and develop into kind of a crater but doesn't scab. It eventually heals but there is always a scar, no matter how minor the wound. I have repeatedly told doctors about this but have only been told to take him to a dermatologist. I know this is common with diabetes but my son doesn't have diabetes. He has reactive hypoglycemia, hypothyroidism and as of last week, Lyme Disease.

I would appreciate any info
Thank you

Yes I do. Before Lyme I had beautiful flawless soft skin. I never had issues w/ bruising or healing a cut whatsoever. Then I got Lyme and even a tiny bruise on soft tissue would not fade a way two years later. I don't understand why! I also have a superficial scratch from last summer that is still on my leg, will not fade away!

Then 4 weeks ago I had my Hickman Line place and the wounds just refuse to heal!! The stitches still ooze and itch like crazy. Yet NOT infected either, just not healing. It's exactly 4 weeks and one day today so I'm soo frustrated!

one of the first symptoms i complained to doctors of prior to being diagnosed was feeling 'thin-skinned.' my skin cuts very easily, i bruise easily, and healing takes a long time. i also am scarring easily, with lyme treatment, it has definitely improved (especially the bleeding easily), but is still not normal or what it once was. my skin also has a different texture than it used to. i am hoping it continues to improve as i continue to recover...

I have this problem too. I have cut that happened almost a year ago and it hasn't completely healed. It might never.

Lymetoo... I am wondering about that too!! I get these soft tissue bruising in places I know I couldn't have banged. Yet my Bab test was negative? But we know that doesn't mean I don't have it! [Frown]

It's definitely a problem. Years ago I got a small green laser and it is my first line of defense when someone gets a cut, bruise, sprain or hurt. Frequently during day, 90 seconds shining green photons on it makes it heal in a fraction of the time, even in very old people.

Wow. It is crazy to hear that others suffer from this when I have been researching and asking doctors for two years. I took my laptop with me and showed the pictures of his wounds and pointed out all of the scars. No one acted like it was anything. They just told me to see a dermatologist. My son's skin is beautiful and soft and perfect (aside from the scars all over his legs). I hope his skin doesn't change through all of this. I love to touch his little face and hands.

Vitamin C helps form collagen. Collagen formation is very important for wound healing. and it boosts the immune system.

I would look into giving him some vitamin C with bioflavinoids. American Health is a good brand.
