Just wondering if anyone else felt worse when taking Artemisinin?

Took Mepron for 3 weeks- felt nothing. Then added Artemsinin and got bad air hunger and other inflammatory responses. Took this for 3 weeks on and 1 week off with no relief.

Finally on month 3 I stopped the art for a few days and felt NO AIR HUNGER! Had other symptoms but not air hunger. Added it in today at half of the usual dose and BAM, bad air hunger back.

Is this normal? Or am i having some inflammatory reaction to art?

Could this also be the detox reactions they warn about? Lots of swelling and swollen lymph nodes.

Wow, well I was worried about an allergic reaction but my doctor told me I may get an increase in air hunger when starting it. I didn't think like this though!! Does sound like a crazy severe flare.

Can I ask what you do to treat Babesia then? Im in a rut with this one b/c I can't take zith. Going to start bactrim soon but I know I need Art with that.

I also cant take zith. I am currently taking mepron (which I thinks is for the babs, adding it slowly) plaquenil, biaxin, amoxi, probenecid and soon I will start a-bart and a-babs. I think this is suppose to cover, bart, babs and lyme.

It took me 2+ yrs and two llmds to find out I had any coinfections so I havent really treated for them but my llmd thought I would do great on mepron. But you said no improvement huh? Maybe 3 weeks wasnt enough on the mepron. How much were you taking?

I didn't feel anything on Mepron. So I was happy! Maybe Im actually tolerating this drug. I have to pulse Mepron 3 weeks on, 1 week off b/c I can't take zith or Biaxin. Im wondering if this is only making me worse like others have said. I have been on Mepron 2 1/2 months now at 1 tsp/2 x day. If my blood tests aren't enough I have to increase that.

I have seen that plaquenil is supposed to help babs. I might try that one. Im also hoping Bactrim helps but Im a little nervous to start it, seeing I feel so awful.

I am on month 3 of Mepron. The first month I had air hunger, seriously. It lasted for about a week or two. The second month, nothing. Currently, on week two or three of serious air hunger.

People take Mepron for a long time. If you didn't have any response to it, maybe you just didn't hit your herx weeks yet. I think mine are about 6 weeks apart, not once a month like most people.

normally, you dont get some air hunger from artemisin. artemisin protects the not infected erythrocytes not beeing infected with babesia. it doesnt has a bactericidal effect or something like that. if you are in week 3 of mepron, the air hunger will be caused by mepron, look into the mepron buddys threat.. week 3 is the worst..
