I'm curious how everyone feels when they first wake up, even after nap of say 1 hr or more...

I feel like I'm trying to come back from the dead, literally feel like I'm on the edge......

extremities are weak, tight( almost locked up), get cramps in hands, calves and feet if I stretch.. headache almost always...muscle spasms all over..

Have to take deep manual breaths to get enough energy to move, orient myself...

I get soooooo fatigued I can't stay awake but am to the point I hate waking up...

I've tried to drink plenty of water thinking it may be a dehydration issue, no help...

seems to be worse now, I'm on IV rocephin and oral Rifampin..

Thanks for any responses..

I was feeling horrible when I woke up.

I felt like I had a hangover. Headache, sick, weak.

This went on for quite a while before I figured out the cause.

I found out that the second floor of our home, where we were sleeping, was toxic with deadly, airborne mold.

Try sleeping somewhere new. A clean motel room, perhaps? See if it makes a difference.

--------------------
May health be with you!

Toxic mold was suppressing our immune systems, causing extreme pain, brain fog and magnifying symptoms. Four days after moving out, the healing began.

I remember reading somewhere that symptoms when waking up were due to toxins but if they progressed throughout the day it was due to the infection. Of course, I cannot even remember where I read this! don't know how true it is either.

Maybe try more things to detox and see if that helps?

Thanks, I have lived in many different places, even states... always have that severe hangover feeling when waking...

It did go away for a few weeks(years ago) when I was put on a prevpac and cipro for an incorrect diagnoses(very first round of Abx's I had ever taken).. tried it again only to work about half as well.. now nothing works....

Could be your oxygen saturation drops while you are sleeping... This was happening to me and I definately felt like I was very heavy and unable to move when first waking up. Then my doctor tried me on oxygen at night and it helped. And then I lost insurance coverage of it, but discovered it was due to nighttime Asthma triggered by time of day and position (lying down vs. sitting/standing). So now I'm on Asthma medication (Singulair) and feel much better when first waking.

Raz, I did have a sleep study test where the tech said she had never seen anyone breath so shallow during sleep...

it might very well be an oxygen thing since my muscles hurt so bad around my chest wall that I unconsciously breath shallow..

When the meds helped me feel better I was breathing deep normal breaths...

Have you had your morning cortisol levels checked?

I feel like this every single morning ( like a train ran over me in my sleep ), and when I had my 8am cortisol checked, it was VERY low.

I then had an ACTH STIM test, and it stimulated my adrenals so well I felt sooooooo much better for the rest of the day.

Then my adrenals crapped out again.

If you have a sleep study report, you might qualify for oxygen, cpap, etc

Just a thought.

Oh my gosh, I have felt like this my entire life, and since Easter, it has been even worse. I didn't imagine it COULD get worse. This is why, no matter how tired I am, I RARELY nap. I just cannot wake up again. I will be groggy the rest of the day. I have never felt refreshed after a 1/2 hour or hour nap or after a night's sleep.

I also had a sleep study, and nothing. I take magnesium and D-Ribose and sublingual B-12 to name a few. I do not feel as if these supplements are doing anything for me.

I am going to ask my doctor about the adrenals at my next appointment, in a few weeks here.

I am also an extremely DEEP sleeper. I have slept through so much through the years that it is scary.

This all began when I was a teenager, and it caused many fights between me and my parents, who thought I was just being "lazy" or "difficult." This is one reason my doctor believes I may have been infected since I was a teenager. We have no way of knowing for sure, of course, but I remember when it started and just trying so hard to come out of that deep, drugged, disorientating feeling.

I move VERY slowly in the morning. Definitely my worst time of day.
