No, I'm not taking anything. Can't find a doctor.
I do have a ringing in my ears that comes and goes, but this is different. Flute music, I recognize it quite well as I used to play the flute when I was younger.
I have chased the music all around the house trying to find the source, to see if it would get louder or quieter depending on my movements. Then I covered my ears to see if that made any difference and that's when I realized that the music was definitely IN my head.
It's not unpleasant, just a bit worrying as everything I've read about musical hallucinations seems to indicate that it's a sign of impending hearing loss.
I did read the studies about musical hallucinations and Lyme Disease, which is why I wondered if anyone here had ever experienced it. The studies claim it is "rare", but the studies seem to claim a lot of other things that aren't true according to the patients, so...

I heard the music on a rare couple occasions, usually acoustic guitar sounding, but havent since starting ABX. I also used to more often get these loud metallic banging nosies, loud enough to shake my body.

Lyme can affect the senses. It affected my sense of smell. I smelled a dead rat for probably a year and a half. No one else could smell it, and I did like you and tried to pinpoint where it was coming from, but never could. I also smelled smoked on a few occassions when there was no smoke.

I hear music (or talking) sometimes especially at night when we have our fan on.
Have also lost my sense of smell and now my taste buds are going.

Not only hear music, but I smell things that are not there. For a few days last month I was seeing Darth Vader in my home. The weird thing is I don't even know who Darth Vader is, only when I described to hubby did he say his name!! Now why can't I hallucinate about babies (less frightening), flowers (much prettier) foods (much more appetizing)... nope I saw Darth of all things!! LOL

Scorpiogirl, that is pretty terrifying! I have never actually had a visual hallucination but I see lots of "shadows" darting around in my peripheral vision and if the light is dim then things sometimes take on an eerie resemblance of something else.
For instance this afternoon I totally freaked out thinking there was a tarantula hiding in the shadows in the corner of my living room. After I had chucked everything within arm's reach at the darned thing I realized it was part of a broken coathanger and not a tarantula at all.
Boy was I relieved! lol
It is good to know that I am not alone with the music. When I read the studies on musical hallucinations I wondered if it wasn't more common than the study indicated. Seems it is!

Anonymiss, tell me about it!! There were times I would skid just to avoid bumping into him as if he really was there!! Scared to crap out of me for days!! Thanks God all that stuff is gone. I still have the phantom smells and I hear "mama" all the time even when my kids are not home!!

lyme played all kinds of tricks on my senses. i genuinely thought i was going insane. ambient sounds (like birds chirping, tires moving on wet pavement, and a soft radio playing in another room) were loud, distracting, and impossible to tune out and focus. also, i could hear things that no one else heard (like a ringing every time the air conditioner would go on and off and a humming coming from the electrical box). i also had phantom smells (burning/smoke) and of a foul odor. other smells were greater with intensity and unbearable (at times, fresh flowers in my house, freshly cleaned bed linens, and coffee - smells i used to love). things which were not rotten smelled as if they were (milk and shrimp). my taste was also effected. things tasted metallic or rotten when they were fresh. i also had visual hallucinations (weird animals on the lawn and in the woods behind my house), 'floaters,' and things darting/scrambling out of the corner of my eyes. This was all TERRIFYING. with antibiotics, ALL of these have improved to varying degrees over time. Smell, taste, and minor hearing issues still persist from time to time and in much milder degrees.

I'm sorry to hear that everyone else has these maddening symptoms, too, but it is very nice to know that I am NOT losing my mind even though it may feel like it!
The darting shadows are very disturbing sometimes. I am VERY easily startled these days and the darting shadows sometimes remind me of birds flying overhead or sometimes even seem like an arm reaching out to grab me.

ok-don't call me crazy or anything-i have been afraid to post this til now...but i was told...not sure by who that if you have metal fillings in your mouth it can somehow make you hear what is playing on radio. i am pretty sure this is true cuz more than once when it happened and i put on radio the same song was on.
sometime s i hear talking...and it sounds like radio disc jockey guys too
don't tell anyone i said this now. i don't want them coming with a strait-jacket
this went on a very long time for me and almost stopped when i had my amalgams taken out---it hardley ever happens now or is strong...but i stiill have a few gold teeth and it still hwppens some

anonymiss - I know what you mean about being startled easily. I walk in a room and see my husband standing there and my heart jumps in my throat. He was like "hmmm... I live here too you know." Yeah well I know but still I wasn't EXPECTING him to look so HUGE? I don't know. And yes I randomly duck too thinking something is flying really low and will hit me on my head all 5' of me! CRAZINESS!

my son had constant musical hallucinations. Took a long time to go away but it did. He had this for years and never told anyone, got worse as the undiagnosed lyme got worse. Music free now!!

lpkayak, Lucille ball and many other famous people had fillings that picked up radio signals. It is stated that she even picked up soviet spy messages. I saw a show that documented it is plausible, especially with older fillings. You must be famous
