Biaxin (Clarithromycin) was a good drug for me. I was on it for almost 6 months. I needs to be taken with either Plaquenil or Amatadine to raise cellular PH.

Watch for yeast.

I took it for about 4.5 months in combination w/other meds...I do think it helped, although I would agree with bcb's comment about yeast!

Thanks peeps!!

What I don't understand (one of many things) is that our Lyme doc only gave my husband a script for 7 days.... with a bllod test follow up to look at Crea/Liver/kidney function after....

But what't the point to do 7 days wait for tolerance testing then start it back up ???

dunno?

Glad y'all had some success with it!

Thanks!!!

Give the doc a call, he may want you to refill the Biaxin/Clarithromycin right after your labs are done. You shouldn't have to wait long for liver and kidney function test results, they are usually done within a couple hours or by the next day.

Good luck [Smile]

help again!

just wondering when you kids were on the Biaxin how often you did bloodwork? and what were some of the clinical indicators that showed good tolerance??? ASAT, ALAT... etc......

After one week biaxin trial:

Creatinine jumped from 88 to 97 with acceptable levels (here in France) from 44 to 106

bizarre because 3 months of RocIV didn't budge anything

anybodddddddddy????

up up??? help!

thanks clueless!

I never had any trouble with it. I think I got bloodwork every 2-4 months.

Creatinine levels can jump from dehydration or even increased dietary protein consumption. This happened to me. I wasn't drinking enough water because I felt nauseous.

So make sure your husband is drinking plenty of water, especially before lab draws. I find it hard to force myself to drink much water in the morning but I've learned to do so to keep my lab levels where they should be.

My doc generally requires labs (CBC and CMP) every 2 wks when on IV meds, every 4wks when on oral meds.

Thanks Sammy et Lymetutu!!

Chatting with doc tonight to look into what next!??

Can't imagine he's gonna pull the plug on Biaxin after 1 week- seems like something many people here do for a LONG TIME- ??

It was 7 days Biaxin and 1 month Plag.....

praying there is a method to his/this madness!!
