I don't recall where I read it, but I seem to recall that Burrascano had mentioned his belief that BB's last haven is in the skin. Have any of you heard this too or know more about it? Interestingly, I have been breaking out in a big way. I also think I'm trending towards feeling better. I'm not even on anything right now.

From Burrascano's March 2011 talk:

Dr. B believes: spirochetes choose skin as their final hiding place.

That's really interesting to me... does he mean skin is the "last resort/last grasp" for Bb - as in it's losing the battle against you and your immune system?

I have been out of treatment for 1.5 yrs now without any type of relapse thankfully (knock on wood) but I have had weird, minor skin issues that I never had prior to getting ill, only for the last year or so.

I always chalked it up to yeast/fungal, parasites or even auto-immune issues but you really made me think...hmmmm.

Been on abx for Lyme for nearly two years. Back acne, sort of acne anyway, in the last 3 months or so, even before I felt good enough to go outside.

I also have a few unexplained cysts. I haven't had the doctors test them yet, money and being on my face, ears, etc...

Same here. Mainly back, some chest and arms. Not too much on face... Re cysts, I consistently get them from fish oil supplements.

I have quite a problem with acne now..I have for the past several months at least. I attributed it to yeast issues, but maybe not?? It seemed to pop up after I stopped antibiotics and started taking diflucan (which I have not taken now in a few months now, but the acne has continued).. I have it on my back and on my upper arms..some on my face. It really sucks!

It subsided somewhat on my face upon stopping diflucan, but has persisted quite badly on my back and down my upper arms! I've been wondering why it is still happening/when is it going to end?? [Mad]

Better than I was previously, but certainly not back to normal. How about you?

Not back to normal, but feeling some unusually good progress lately. Wondering whether the Diflucan was doing the job and should continue with it. See my post on "Diflucan Mechanism." Don't know if it has any merit, but interesting. Also posted recently on improvements after sitting in hot tub a couple of times.

I wish I had a hot tub! So relaxing!

As you probably know, there is a protocol for lyme that involves taking diflucan. Not sure what to think about that... I do know that I had quite the herx when I started taking it and whenever I increased my dose. I assumed the herx was due to yeast die off. It was quite unpleasant.

I took the diflucan for a little over 3 months, so at the time I felt like that was long enough for it to do whatever it was going to do for me. I know it can be hard on the liver, so I was a bit worried about taking it for much longer.
I may end up taking it again in the future, but for the moment, I'm doing a parasite treatment. We'll see how that goes. I think I do still have some yeast issues, but I may try to go the more natural route when I try to tackle it again in the future.

Anyway, I wish I could figure out the exact cause of this acne. It needs to go!

I've had to cut soda out to a large extent. That seems to have helped. (I know I should be limiting sugar anyway...)

Diflucan is suppose to inhibit the p450 enzyme, suppose to help kill BB. Might have something to do with our bodies getting rid of whatever is causing our acne problems.
