Are you thinking of Igenex PCR tests for Lyme and co-infections. That is a relatively new test but still not very accurate. My LLND still prefers Igenex western blott. Also since you have undergone treatment your results may be different. See "Advanced Topics in Lyme Desease" by Dr. Burrascano MD p. 7. Just trying to help.

I just remember reading a posting here about new and better tests.
And that Igenex had added something new.
I have had all the tests done, and I thought that
maybe they tested for viruses or some new co-infection.
I phoned and emailed Igenex. I also asked them about being tested for viruses.
I also had been bitten by a dog, and got so sick after that.
I was only given a tetanus shot, no antibiotics.
So, I would love to be tested for any infections I could have gotten from the dog bit.
Our LLMD wants us to get testing done again. For a few good reasons.
Thanks hammond for your help. You sounded scared to offer it. I love to hear people's opinions anytime.
Thanks Lymetoo.

If you have insurance that covers these tests or do not have huge financial concerns, I would recommend doing the PCR for Lyme: whole blood, serum and urine. These are three separate tests performed by Igenex.
If you get a positive PCR, and they are still unreliable in that a negative one does not mean you don't have lyme, that means that the DNA of the spirochete was identified in your blood or urine.
A positive test is indisputable, unlike the interpretations that need to be made with an questionable western blot. It can be of great help with insurance issues, as well. It is not a new test at all. I had my first positive one way back in 1999 or 2000.
