Oh yes. Brain fog and dizziness can be caused by yeast. I'll have to come back later with info and links. It's all on my other computer.
Get on the diet ASAP and buy some VSL#3 .. better yet, ask your dr for a script for VSL#3 DS .. if you have good insurance you can get it for the cost of a copay.

Most docs I've seen say those Candida titer levels are meaningless and everyone has them.

You will notice a worsening if you have coinfections, but with only Lyme it shouldn't be too bad. Maybe you'll feel better.

I treated the candida while on abx. I did the diet, am taking probiotics and took diflucan daily. I had severe brain fog which has improved dramatically since going after the candida. It isn't a problem for me at this time.
I'm gonna have to disagree that the candida titers are useless. Before my lyme diagnosis I had seen someone because I was suspicious of adrenal fatigue. One of the tests that was sent at the time was candida titers. All came back normal. He sent some other test too...cannot remember...that was supposed to help determine if I had candida or not. But that was fine as well.
It wasn't until I retested that one of them came back high. Only one was high but I noticed a big difference when I made the diet changes, upped my probiotics and started the diflcuan.
I have no experience with stopping abx so I cannot offer much in that department. I've only been treating since April! Lol.
I would think though that it is important to get the candida under control as that can cause further problems. The more I read, the more I'm convinced that our guts are major players in treating and beating this disease.

I've got candida and am doing the yeast free diet, and diflucan and some cream my GYN gave me. I've been told by a friend who has lyme that I will never get rid of it unless I do all three things. i am still taking my abx though.
If you read Burrascano's guidelines on yeast overgrowth and follow them, maybe that will help. That's my plan. I hope it works.

Philly78, what did you up your probiotics to? I am curious about how many billions people take.

DIET, DIET, DIET is the key. Then, be sure to follow the 5 step plan outlined below. It was developed by my naturopath. It works.
"Successful control and elminiation of a Candida Albicans overgrowth requires a multifaceted program as described below. Failure to follow ALL the steps simultaneously will result in slow progress and will lengthen healing time significantly. The program should be tailored to the individual and must balance the need to eliminate the Candida and deprive it of its food source while insuring proper nutrition for the individual."
Five Steps to Candida Elimination:
1. You must starve it into submission by eliminating its food source.
2. You must kill it with anti-fungal herbs and supplements. [e.g....garlic, onion, caprylic acid, Pau D'Arco capsules or tea, clove, grapefruit seed extract, olive leaf extract, oil of oregano, tea tree oil, Echinacea, Goldenseal, black walnut, MSM, barberry root, uva ursi, neem leaf, biotin]
3. You must reestablish the proper balance and quantity of probiotic bacteria in the digestive tract. [...multi-strain lactobacillus acidophilus and bifidus capsules with FOS should be taken between meals to maximize repopulation of the digestive tract by beneficial bacteria.]
4. You must reestablish proper levels of all B vitamins (yeast free) and utilize other immune enhancing supplements to boost immune system function. [e.g ... B complex vitamins (yeast free), biotin, beta 1-3 glucan, colostrum, maitake mushroom, vitamins A, C, E, zinc and selenium]
5. You must cleanse and heal the digestive tract to promote proper elimination of toxins and Candida and assimilation of nutrients. [e.g...chlorophyll, MSM, omega 3 fatty acids found in flax seed and salmon oils, GLA found in borage, evening primrose and black currant oils. Pantothenic acid, digestive enzymes between meals]

All of Lymetoo's info is spot on!! Just another thought. siboinfo.com is an interesting site about SIBO (small intestine bacterial overgrowth.) After taking abx and having excess yeast it is a good idea to take probiotics. But it is possible to take too many probiotics. There are breath tests that analyze bacterial digestive gases and it provides links on this website for more research fun!

Hammond... I was treated for SUPPOSED "SIBO" and I'm still mad at my GI for that. He sent me into a tailspin with the Candida... It has taken me more than 6 months to recover from that stupid move.

Is it possible to eliminate Candida in the form of thrush while taking ABX? I have had it for over 1 1/2 years and nothing seems to really touch it. Currently I am on herbals and ABX. Would it be worth it to go with only herbals to help with getting rid of the thrush?
With Lyme, Bartonella & Thrush going on, can I really tell which is causing what symptom?
Lymetoo- how many Theralac are needed per day ?
