What would be the reasoning behind stopping meds (Biaxin, Doxy, & Placquenil)after being on them for 9 months.

There wouldn't be any need to stop unless you're fishing for a positive WB and feel you need one.

She hasn't seen any change in symptoms. Lots of head pain, back pain, joint pain, ear ringing, eye twitching, sole of feet sore, rib pain, tons on muscle spasms, mood swings. I wonder if Dr is questioning lyme? Igenex positve, CDC negative on last WB in Feb 2010.
Igm 31++, 39 Ind; 41++, 83-93+
IgG 31 Ind, 41+, 58+ Dr is LLMD and well known but don't get why he would want another WB and not through igenex.
I don't get it. So frustrating.

Some LLMD's have different philosophies. I see no need to retest again... esp with some other lab.

Herxing can last for months and months.

A positive test is a positive test.

What about coinfections? I have similar symptoms which have been attributed to bart.

philly78,
I believe she also has Babs and possibly Bart but those tests were negative. How is Bart treated. Are your symptoms improving? Did you test positive for Bart or is dx by symptoms?

Lymetoo,
I totally am convinced positive is positive and to put her through all that I don't think is necessary. Can't get in to see another LLMD til September.

She's bound to have coinfections. Nearly every patient does. The tests don't always come back positive even when you have the illness ... as you well know.

Glad you're going to see another LLMD.

I didn't test positive for bart or babs. I was diagnosed clinically by my doc for bart. I think I may have babs though too. In looking at my chart I keep for symptoms, this seems likely.

Anyway, my symptoms that I think are from bart are sore souls of my feet in the am, muscle spasms and twitching, more so on the right side of my body...especially my eye! Darn thing was twitching like crazy last night!

I have irritability and moodiness as well as some GI symptoms.

I've been treating with Bactrim and have noticed some improvement overall. Still having bad days though.

When she was a baby she was allergic to Bactrim so I wonder what other meds would treat Bart. You're symptoms sound just like what she complains about and usually on one particular side. She's always had GI symptoms. She even has what looks like stretch marks on her belly and sides that she always associates with her weight gain (60 lbs) but I know it must be the bart rash. I need to get her on some Bart meds.
