Hi all,

My practioner has recommended I attend Group Constellation Therapy.

I don't know too much about it, but I think its a form of of group therapy designed to help you deal with deep systematic issues you may have with key people in your life (family, lovers etc). The goal is to improve your state of mind and subsequently your health.

More info can be found at :-

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Family_Constellations

I'm slightly dubious as apparently it came up in ART testing as something my body needs to help heal. These sessions are run through my practitioner so I'm worried that he may simply be using ART as a way of convincing to buy an additional "treatment". It's expensive as it would mean I would have to fly up to scotland to attend and spend a whole weekend there so it's quite a heavy investment for me to do right now.

It has repeatedly come up since I've started the ART testing but i've been hesitant to sign up to it.

I was wondering if anyone has had any experience with this in anyway and whether anyone has found it useful?

Thanks

Adey

I've done some of these and they can be amazing. I don't know how much my own constellation helped, but I saw some other people's that were just jaw-dropping.

Some of my personal friends have also found these to be incredibly helpful.

That said, if you are skeptical, I wouldn't pursue it as that may have an impact on the benefit you could gain from it.

Be well,
Scott

Hi guys,

Thanks for this - most appreciated! Hopefully I can contribute back with some of my own experiences.

What were the kind of effects you experienced? Did you feel physically better or was it more of some kind of emotional awakening?

Many thanks

Adey

I haven't done this Constellation Therapy but I did do some psychotherapy when I was first diagnosed with Fibromyalgia (which later became a Lyme diagnosis). I wasn't sure if my illness was psychosomatic or not.

The therapy was really helpful but my illness was not psychosomatic. If you have Lyme or other associated illnesses - chances are that a form of psychotherapy will not necessarily cure it. It really is a bacteria, parasite, virus, toxin, etc. that has to be dealt with.

There are mysterious connections between body, mind & spirit. It seems a bit suspect that your ART practitioner is also going to benefit financially from your pursuit of this therapy.

Maybe get a second opinion from another ART therapist?

Thanks guys for all your feedback.

It's good to know that people have used other methods to compliment directly dealing with whatever bacteria, virus etc they have.

A family member of mine had cancer and is now fully well. At the time she was seeing a therapist who stressed the body, mind and spirit connection you mention sparkles. From her experiences, and now she is well and has an amazingly positive outlook on life, I realise the important of dealing with all facets of your being, not just the standard western medical ones.

From her experience, I'm quite open to other therapies, just don't like to be conned into doing something for some one elses gain [Smile]

On the topic of ART practioners, is there a list anywhere of ones in London or UK generally?

There was a chap I stubbled upon based in Sussex but apart from that in previous searches I haven't found many others.

Many thanks for all your help

Adey,

One thing to consider - would it make sense for you to have constellation issues?

For example, I have a friend:
* Dad is severely alcoholic and has said horrible, horribly abusive things to her and to her husband. Calling her a *****, saying racist things about her hubby, etc.
* Her mom is very passive about the whole thing, enabling her husband and doesn't try to protect her daughter, emotionally or otherwise, from her dad.

Or another friend:
* Mom is very nice, but has perfectionism issues.
* Grandma (mom's mom) has been mentally ill since the mom was a little girl.

My guess is both of these friends have constellation issues.

If you have significant dysfunction in your family, you might give more weight to the recommendation.

Google Bert Hellinger Constellations and you will find a lot of information. Constellation work is one of Dr. K.'s favorite teaching. He holds a once a month meeting here in town and invites all who want to come for barely a penny. I have many friends who have participated and benefited. It is taught all over the world and respected and well attended. It takes years of intensive training and talent. Even being a silent participant can be a healing experience.

I did two of them with exact the opposite results. But it is big fun, a great weekend.
