Do those of you who eat the required fat (23g) maintain a healthy weight? A gram of fat has 9 calories. If you take the regular dose of Mepron, that would be 207 calories of fat needed per teaspoon of Mepron. So daily that is 414 calories. If you are double dosing, that's 828 calories a day in fat. Most folks do not need more than 1800 calories a day (especially if they are not exercising). That would mean eating a diet over 40% fat. That is certainley not healthy and would make it difficult to get in other nutrients for health.
So, how does one maintain a healthy weight and healthy diet while eating the required amount of fat?
Anyone have experience with Mepron and small amounts of fat?

I tend to use virgin olive oil or Fish oil. That type of thing, so atleast you know your fat is the GOOD kind of fat.
I've lost and gained weight through out my treatment over the last four years and I'm on my 4th round of Babs treatment. As said above, my first round of Mepron I lost a LOT of weight, so I think it may be where you are in the process of treatment.

I have actually lost weight while on Mepron/Malarone. I also try to eat healthy fats like nuts, avocado, coconut oil and olive oil. I just had cod fish fried in olive oil, broccoli with butter and brown/wild rice refried in olive oil with onions and green peppers. I think I met my fat needs!

Coconut oil has a ton of fat. It is however a good fat that wont clog your arteries. Many on here cook with it and still others use it for a variety of other things. I know there is at least one woman here that uses it as a ummmmm personal lubricant lol.
I too have actually lost weight since being on Mepron. I usually mix the coconut oil in my coffee in the morning as I have never been much of a breakfast eater. Throw in a pack of crackers and wallaaa, you have the required amount.
If you do enjoy coffee, a cup of decaf with the coconut oil in the evening and your regular meal should suffice.
Fat is a must to properly absorb mepron. Otherwise, you are just throwing money away. Not a good thing since the Mepron is sooooooooo expensive.
