Hoping someone might be able to shed some light on whether or not i might be having a herx reaction to antibiotics or if its my lymes disease progressing due to inadequate treatment....
Was diagnosed with Lyme about 3 weeks ago, doctors said it was a recent infection... Taking oral doxycycline for 3 weeks ( first 2 weeks 300 mg and past week increased it to 400 mg -daily).
Yesterday my right arm started to tingle (almost like it was falling asleep) for about 15 minutes or so and then slightly numb for maybe a minute or so a. About an hour after that the top of both hands started burning (as if i had a sunburn), this lasted all day through last night. My lips also started tingling and feeling numb. Lip numbness lasted about and hour or so.
Today tops of my hands and lips feel slightly irritated as if they have been sunburned ( but there not). Im also getting some minor tingling throughout my hands and arms.
Could this be a herx reaction, or is it a progression of the illness / new symptoms?
Kinda freaking out. My only lyme symptoms so far have been severe fatigue, brain fog and feeling out of it / not myself.
Hope someone out there has gone through something similar and can let me know there thoughts! Thank you!!!

have you been outside at all? you probly have a doxy burn. you cannot have even a little sun when you're on doxy. my doctor will not prescribe doxy in the summer. sunscreen doesn't work. since it is the first drug of choice with a new infection, i'm not sure what abx is second best, but someone here will know.

Are you sure you don't have bartonella? Burning lips and hands is one of my bartonella symptoms that flares with any new antibiotic that hits bartonella.

Burning tops of the hands for a person on doxycycline is usually a doxy burn. You have to stay out of the sun when on doxy.
When driving, put gloves on because the sun coming through the windshield can also burn the hands and face.
You will not look sunburned, but you are chemically burned from the doxy.
It took me a month to get over the burn once I got it. And, any little bit of sun, once I got the burn, made me start burning again, even through our skylight.
Once burned, the hands will tingle or burn if they are placed in hot or cold water also.
Of course, it could also be a herx reaction to the medications. With a herx you can get new symptoms you never had before.
It is not your disease progressing due to inadequate treatment because you are on a good dose of doxy and you just started treatment.

Sounds like you've been out in the sun. I had some really bad doxy burns because my hands were exposed. Lips, too. It will go away in a day or two if you're out of the sun.

Thank you all for these response, really made me feel better! Im guessing it was a reaction to being out in the sun. I was driving in a Jeep with top down...I had spf 50+ on but maybe it was more of a chemical doxy burn, cause im not red at all!..

Sunscreen will not stop the doxy burn.
You have to stay out of the sun or the burn can get really, really bad and nothing will give you relief. Not even narcotic pain killers.
