Can you please help me figure out what this is? I just started having bumps on the top of my mouth, near the very back where it starts to get soft near the tonsils.

I have blackness on my tongue (figured it was yeast) and am on Diflucan. Does this mean the yeast went to the top part as well?

Thanks! Happy 4th of July! [Smile]

It could be a virus - coxsackie (hand, foot, mouth I think?) comes to mind. Are they like blisters?

Does the blackness come off if you brush your tongue?

Thanks for the replies.

It looks like there are only two small bumps, and they are reddish. It doesn't hurt as much today, and it's easier to swallow.

I'm hoping that they are not persistent.

Racer - the blackness doesn't come off even with harsh brushing. It's annoying. I just got off of Flagyl, and some people say Flagyl causes black tongue. Maybe it'll just go away soon.

Here's something funny: My android tablet wants to autocorrect the word "Flagyl" with "Flatulence"! [Smile] I had to go back and change them all.

Gael - thanks for the advice. I just added a parasite cleanse pill to my Amazon shopping cart. It has black walnut, wormwood, cloves and garlic.

I've also been taking artemisinin and garlic extracts daily, plus GSE, oregano oil, and other stuff. I wonder how much more helpful these addition herbs would be...

I've been considering trying MMS, but there seems to be too much conflicting information.

Thanks for sharing the link, Lymetoo.

The strange thing is that I have nothing white on my tongue. I only have a blackish-brown growth near the back. I haven't found anything conclusive about this type of growth. Someone here said it was "fungus", but yeast is also a fungus, so how do they differ?

I'm on a strict anti-yeast diet, and I'm taking over 200 CFU of probiotics daily. I can't figure out what is giving me this black tongue, and now this new symptom on the top of the mouth.

I've had the bumps for years. Hoping to find out some answers soon from blood tests.

Seems to me they appeared about the time all my GI issues did '05. I remember thinking my GI was all screwed up and why wouldn't my tongue look the same.

I'll have to look back and see if they were earlier '99? Terrible that so many sx and sometimes they all blend in together.

I have about 40 or more. Red and hard. I had my PCP test one tongue crud one time and it came back normal flora. I knew there was nothing normal about it.

Today my tongue (except for rear bumps) can look healthy and reddish pink as it should other days it looks hairy yellow, split indention down the middle, tooth indentions on both sides.

Indentions on the sides is from inflammationof tongue when it's bigger and pushes against my teeth but I don't know the name of the bad guy that does this.

Thanks for the reply, Pam.

I can't imagine how you went YEARS with so many bumps, plus other problems!! You guys are all warriors. [Smile]

I just started feeling good recently, and my GI seems very healthy. I'm also taking Diflucan, so I don't understand why it's not killing the black growth on my flapper.

I have this idea in my mind that maybe it's because I was opening probiotic / saccharomyces pills onto my tongue every evening after I sterilized my mouth. Maybe the good bacteria / yeasts took over and overgrew? It seems a little far-fetched, but I don't do the "opening pills in mouth" trick so frequently anymore because I'm worried about that.

Some of the -azoles give me a black tongue.

Albendazole/Albenza and Tinidazole/Tindamax give me a black tongue. It goes away after I stop these meds.

Flucanazole/Diflucan and Metronidazole/Flagyl have never given me a black tongue.

I also dumped probiotics on my tongue. It made no difference. I just had to live with my weird tongue until I was done with these meds.

Boxermom - I'm SO hoping that is the case with me! I've been off Flagyl for 1 week, but I haven't seen an improvement (yet).
