I suspect I have Lyme but have yet to go to any doctors (I just found out about the disease a month ago and fit many of the symptoms, and I remember an EM rash from 8 years ago). I am going to my primary doctor (a D.O.) tomorrow morning to get blood work and a physical done.I live in Brooklyn and got a list of what are apparently great LLMD's in Manhattan, but I figured I should go to at least my primary doctor and see what he thinks before I go and spend $1300 for a Lyme diagnosis. I realized that he may be able to order a Western Blot (I figured I would skip the ELISA because it is so unreliable). Is it worth a shot? If so, what should I ask for specifically in the test? Should I ask the tests be sent to a specific lab?

Let us know how your appt. went. If you didn't get any answers, you may have to go ahead and make an appt. with a LLMD. You are blessed to be in an area where you have options!!

Well if you can have your MD do Cologen (the Lyme MD Blog DR uses this lab, not sure of spelling) if not if he uses quest have him request the band readings in advance.

Print off an order form from the IgeneX website and take it to him to have him sign it. It only costs $200 for the IgG & IgA tests. No sense in messing around with Quest or any of the other labs.
