Hello, I was advised to come to this website because somebody thought that my symptoms sounded like Lyme. I hope that you're all doing well and it is nice to meet you all. I was hoping that somebody might be able to give me some advice as to rather this sounds like Lyme or not.

Okay, I have been having certain symptoms for over a year that lead me to believe that I have either MS or Fibro. Let me start from the beginning. May 2010, I began getting mild headaches, widespread muscle twitching, blurred vision and lighheadedness. They were all an on and off type of thing, sometimes going away for a few days and then always returning. After a few months, I began getting a ringing in my left ear that was also on and off. I went to my doctor, he ran blood tests as well as gave me a CT scan without contrast and an MRI with and without contrast. Everything came back normal with the exception of a vitamin D deficiency and I also had the beginning stages of fatty liver which was diagnosed VIA an Ultrasound. I had also been diagnosed with mixed sleep apnea. So, I started on a diet and attempted to lose weight. I was 350 lbs and Now I am 260 lbs. My fatty liver is pretty much non-existent and my sleep apnea has gone away to the point that my pressure is now way too high for me on my CPAP machine. But, though I have lost close to a hundred pounds, my symptoms still remain and I have even gotten a few new symptoms. Now, the headaches are far and few between, the lightheadedness, muscle twitching, blurred vision and ringing in my left ear still come on and off. But now I have also been having pain in my neck, pain in my lower back and also bad aching pain and weakness in both my legs. The leg pain begins around my knees and goes all the way down to my feet. My arms have also begun to feel achy and weak off and on. Often times after I walk, I get this vibration feeling on my left arch of my foot that feels like a cell phone is underneath it on vibrate mode going off. My legs ache so badly that it is often difficult to walk on them. Then, it will go away for a few days and I will be able to walk fine, with no pain and no foot vibration. A few times when the leg pain symptoms was present, I actually heard a creaking nose in my foot as I attempted to move it. There has been more cracking in the joints of my knees, arms and legs as of late. Also, my feet often feel tingly, like they're falling asleep. I have also been feeling pain in my muscles in my legs, arms, hands and sometimes in my back and neck. I have felt the same tingly feeling in my fingers at different times.

Any assistance with this would be much appreciated. I have been searching for answers for over a year and would love nothing more than to get to the bottom of it and treat whatever it is accordingly. Thank you in advance to anyone who takes the time to read this.

Hi LoFaro,

Welcome to Lymenet. So sorry that you're not feeling well.

Your symptoms do sound a lot like Lyme disease to me. I've had many of them myself.

Have you been tested for Lyme? If you haven't already done so, you may want to post here in "Seeking a Doctor" to find an LLMD (lyme literate doctor) in your area.

welcome, unfortunately it sounds like a cut and dry case of lyme and maybe coinfections. I would post in seeking a doc and get to an llmd, they can run tests but usually its a clinical diagnosis since the testing is not accurate. If the wait is over a month i would order some aqua-doxy, which is a brand of doxycycline, the main drug used to treat lyme early on. Good luck and good job suspecting lyme this early it took me almost two years!

I hope you get well soon! Great job on the weight loss. Keep going. You can read here a lot about Lyme diet and get started on that. I never thought I could live without sugar and I am doing it. I am also new to gluten free and dairy free and that isn't that bad either.

I'm sure while you wait to be seen you could read up on supplements and vitamins. Some will help your symptoms.

Things are never dull. After 3 fighting Lyme, 2 are in remission. Youngest is still sick, age 22. He has new diagnosed Chiari Malformation and Ehlers Danlos Syndrome.

Thank you all very much for the reply and thank you for the kudos on the weight loss, it means a lot to me. I actually didn't start to wonder about Lyme myself, I was on another forum and was describing my symptoms and they referred me here. I really hope that I can get this treated and move on with my life. It has been a really difficult year. One question that I have is, Lyme Disease can't really trigger ALS can it? I have read some people insinuating that it can, but I find it difficult to believe. Also I was wondering, are there cases of Lyme in the city? because I literally never leave the city and go into the country. I am just trying to figure out when I could have gotten bitten. I am going to post on the board searching for a doctor right now. Thank you all again for the replies!
