Sometimes the pharmacy can add flavor. I don't know if that would really help, though.
Can he work on swallowing pills? It will make his life much easier if he is treating Lyme for a while.
How about a spoonful of chocolate syrup?
I mix my Mepon in juice and that helps. The Ceftin uncoated pill was worse than the Mepron, though, so I can only imagine how awful the liquid is.
One more possibility is that if he is going to be taking it a while, ask if there is something else he can take instead.
Good luck.

My daughter is on liquid Ery-ped, basically liquid ethromyocin, if spelled right. It's flavored and still tastes nasty. We put a drop or two of strawberry milk syrup in it (like Hershey's but it's strawberry) to help her get it down.

It is hard to get them to drink a med that tastes so horrible. Mine learned to take pills...even capsules..pretty early if we offered him a chaser of root beer. We are on ceftin and zithromax. My son is supposed to start taking it, too. I think you might be able to cut up the Ceftin into smaller pieces...not certain, but that might help him....to have a smaller bit to swallow followed by a yummy chaser.

The pharmacy added bubble gum flavor, but the Ceftin taste is just too strong.
I tasted it, and it does taste like the pills, just with bubble gum added.
When I gave it to him last night, we tried a (very) chocolate milk chaser and some peanuts. He didn't freak out as much.
I'm going to pick up some mini M&Ms today and have him swallow those, then move on to regular M&Ms. He doesn't get much candy, so I think it might work.
Thanks so much for the suggestions! I really do appreciate it.

In my experience with this, the mini m&m's work pretty well, or anything that tastes strong after, just to take the taste out of the mouth. My daughter is a candy freak, so the promise of candy usually motivates her to go ahead and take pills or liquid. She did learn to take pills at a young age which helped some. Best of Luck

Both my kids took Ceftin in pill form...ages 8 & 10..Ceftin comes in different pill sizes, I requested the small white pills the size of a motrin.
Cut in 1/2 with pill cutter and put it in ice cream so they'd swallow half at a time... Worked like a charm!!
They knew the pill was in there..but MUCH better than fighting with liquid form which is GROSS!!
They will have to swallow eventually...glad I started them young, They'd NEVER do liquid again..since pill form is faster and easier!
