I just started taking adderol, but I can't even handle 5 mg. I am sensitive to a lot of meds, so I am taking 1/4 of a 5 mg tablet once a day and then I will begin to increase slowly.
It helps some but I am still on a low,low dose. The first day I took it I got a headache. The second day I was fine. I tried taking it twice with the low dose and ended up with a headache again. I am going to stay on once a day for a week and then try to increase.
I will say that although it helped me get up and want to do things, my pain was still there so it is kind of being like the "walking dead".
I could do a few things but still felt horrible. That may change in time and some LLMD's are using stimulants to help with fatigue.

I take another ADHD med called Vyvanse and could not function without it. It works great and is not addictive (for me). For me and others I have talked to, it has a smoother feel to it, and less crash/rebound in afternoon. If I don't take it, I am just foggy and tired.
Provigil is another option for fatigue.
When I started on Vyvanse, I did a very low dose, lower than the lowest capsule. Since I could not split the capsule, I dissolved it in a small measured amount of water and drank half. Worked gerat - then I eventually figured out what my dose would be.

I've been prescribed Adderall for many years, before I was diagnosed with Lyme for ADHD. I think I can honestly say that, for me, predates Lyme.
It was not addictive at all for me. It shouldn't be addictive if you are taking the prescribed dose, as directed, and don't have a substance abuse problem.
I have never been able to take the full prescribed dose because it would give me some anxiety if I took too much. I did figure out how to tweak it so I can take it in a way that works for my body.
I break my pills in half and take a half pill, then if I still feel tired/unfocused, I take the other half no sooner than an hour later, or whenever I feel I need it. I take another half later if needed.
I should add, I have not taken Adderall in years. I've been completely bedridden for four years, so it seems moot. I can't get up and do anything, so Adderall isn't going to help. But when I was still functional, it made all the difference in the world.
Recently, my PCP put me back on Adderall as a means to get me out of bed. He feels the health risks of my prolonged bedrest are significant at this point. He wants me to take the Adderall to try and get up and be able to function a little. I did try it a few days and it did help. I guess I have to get in the habit of remembering to take it so I can be more functional.

I've done a lot of the ADD type meds. Something you might want to try is the nootropic and anti-narcoleptic pill called Provigil. It keeps you up and going without the jitters that the ADD meds give you. I like them a lot Posts: 372 | From west of the mississitty | Registered: Jul 2009

I have taken meds for ADHD for years. Now I take them for energy with the lyme. I currently take Dexedrine ER and Dexostat. I dont like the prolog drugs (Vyvanse) as they make me feel kind of crazy.
