My 9 year old daughter with severe psych issues (and PANDAS) has been taking Ceftin and Zithromax for 7 days. She's also taking Diflucan and several supplements.
She has been off of her psych med (Abilify) completely for 8 days. She has been a somewhat irritable, but nothing like she was at her worst. Don't know if it's the abx or just that she's in a different place than when she started.
Today (the 7th day), however, was just like it used to be...raging...screaming, tipping over chairs, wild crying, kicking, etc. not wanting to be touched.
Does that sound like a herx or just her getting back to the way it used to be since she's off of her psych med?
And if so, what are the top things I should be doing for detox? I'm giving her charcoal and trying to get her to drink a lot of water.
I feel like we need to have her off of the Abilify right now so that I can see if the abx are working. But we can't go on like this indefinitely. I have other children in the house.

I would keep my child on her psych medication. Did you take her off the Abilify without discussing this with her pediatric psychiatrist? You can't just cold turkey a child off an Atypical AntiPsychotic.

No, we didn't go cold turkey. We weaned. But how would I really be able to see any changes in her behavior/mood if it was all stabilized on the psych med?
And as far as talking to any doctor...we have an LLMD, but other than that, our primary pedi (as well as the next one that we saw) has little to no experience with PANDAS, not to mention Lyme. Same goes for all the others that I've called about. They don't want to touch us with a 10 foot pole because we're not the standard ear-infection, etc. And nobody wants to actually go out on a limb and LEARN anything about PANDAS or Lyme, either. They just show up, write scripts and collect a paycheck. And they're all connected to each other in our wonderful pedi system.
Our pedi psych is a good man, and I do like him, but he stays the standard course....chemical imbalance and write a script.
