So I have had neuropathy for over a year but suddenly have the most intense pain in my left big toe. It is a small area on the inside and tip of the toe, but it comes in waves day and night. I can't sleep bc it is so severe.
I did start iv doxy shortly before and thought maybe a herx? I've never had a herx so I don't know, but it has been 5 days now withno relief.
Any suggestions?

Gout?
I did have about 6 months last year where my big toe hurt, bad. I kept asking the docs and no one had an answer.

I did think of that but it is not near the joint, which is where I thought gout would hurt. This is along the inside and very tip of the toe...very odd. Thanks for the thought!

No, it doesn't look red at all and is not swollen. I had them check my uric acid today just in case. Should know tomorrow.
