So I have had neuropathy for over a year but suddenly have the most intense pain in my left big toe. It is a small area on the inside and tip of the toe, but it comes in waves day and night. I can't sleep bc it is so severe.

I did start iv doxy shortly before and thought maybe a herx? I've never had a herx so I don't know, but it has been 5 days now withno relief.

Any suggestions?

Gout?

I did have about 6 months last year where my big toe hurt, bad. I kept asking the docs and no one had an answer.

I did think of that but it is not near the joint, which is where I thought gout would hurt. This is along the inside and very tip of the toe...very odd.

No, it doesn't look red at all and is not swollen. I had them check my uric acid today just in case. Should know tomorrow.
