I was just curious as to if anyone else has come across this as a current or former Lyme patient: high ANA (1:320) and a come and go positive Lyme IgM band (mine was band 39). All other rheumatology tests come back negative.
Is it possible that ANA screens could always be high as a result of about 6-7 years of Lyme or Lyme treatment? The rheumatologist I saw can't find any cause for the high ANA-- I'm seeing an LLMD soon, I'm just scratching blatant possibilities off the list by seeing the rheumy while I wait anxiously to see the LLMD.

Happens quite frequently with Lyme patients.
"Band 39: Unknown what this antigen is, but based on research at the National Institute of Health (NIH), other Borrelia (such as Borrelia recurrentis that causes relapsing fever), do not even have the genetics to code for the 39 kDa antigen, much less produce it. It is the most specific antibody for borreliosis of all."

It is a good thing if the rheumatologist cannot give a reason for the high ANA. Very good that he did not dx Lupus.

It is common and 320 is not so extreme. The newer docs are treating lupus with abx. There is a group and roadback.org.
