Hi Guys.

So the doc gave me a Doctor's Data Heavy Metal Test kit and 3 100mg DMSA pills to do the challenge test.

I guess my question is should I take all 3? Is this maybe too much for me? I'm pretty small, weigh 105 pounds so don't want to overdo it with the DMSA.

If anyone has done the test please let me know.

No it's not to much. Just make sure you don't have any metal fillings. If so, you want to wait until you have those removed before taking the DMSA.

Btw, I took 5 pills when I did it and I was at 97 lbs at the time. I didn't feel any effect from it. Another doc had you do it with 20 pills. My doc said what matters is that you do the same both before and after you chelate so you are comparing apples to apples.

Thanks jlp38

I still have a few amalgams! But I read in posts here that for the challenge test it's ok to have them.

Ok so at least I don't feel as bad about the 3 pills. Let's see if anyone else responds...

Well the DMSA's purpose is to pull mercury and other metals out, so it will pull the mercury from your amalgams into your body where it can do even more harm. I also wonder why a doctor wants you to do this test now. If you find you do have heavy metals (chances are really high you will since you have amalgams), you won't be able to chelate because of the amalgams.

Good luck whatever you decide.

Three DMSA won't do a lot. Take them and get it over with. You are pulling mercury out of your fillings with drinking hot and cold, chewing, etc. So one day won't make much difference.

It is a poor test because it tells little or nothing. There is no way of knowing how much mercury and other toxic metals remain in your body. A $46. hair test with Doctor's Data tells you whether you are detoxing metals, which ones, and give you your mineral status at the same time. If you have insufficient minerals, it is difficult to detox metals. So it is also likely that not much will show in your DMSA challenge test if you are deficient.

People can be loaded with toxic metals and won't release them for various reasons with a challenge test. There is no way of telling how much remains in the body if you release some during the challenge.

Do some searching here for mercury - you will find many threads where the subject is discussed. If you still have amalgam fillings, it is a a good thing to learn more about it before you get into it.

Take care and good luck.

Also make certain that you do not have KPU. If you are, this needs to be corrected before you can do any detoxing.

I definitely have deficient minerals and high metals, all of which showed on the DMSA challenge. Ive never done the hair test, but I get what Gigi is saying. It is testing something different than the challenge. I think the challenge is supposed to show whether you have stored metals.

Thanks Gigi and jlp38.

Gigi I feel better about taking the DMSA then. Thank you!

The hair test sounds good, although I read here that someone didn't show any metals with the hair test but tested positive for a lot of metals with the challenge test. I can see that it has its benefits. I def. have to do more reading on this.

I remember my other doc said it's ok to do the test but if I want to detox then I would have to get the metal fillings out first then do the chelation.

Thanks guys for the feedback. (:
