Has anyone here tried the HH2 formula from Dr Zhang?

It is supposedly a really potent source of Houttuynia used in treating Bartonella

I took 5 caps of HH2 twice/day for ~ 3 months about a year ago. Can't say I noticed any particular herx or improvements on it, but I was also on two antibiotics at the time.

After my reaction to levaquin I could not tolerate abx and used HH2 for bart.

When symptoms returned I felt it did not work and was very digusted because I spent so much money on it. But it held my symptoms at bay for several months. I took ten a day, divided in two doses.

I think it was Bactrim DS that finally got things under control.
Now I am treating babesia.

Don't want to hijack the thread, but has anyone found a cheaper bulk source of the formula used by Zhang? I've read on the net that his formula has all necessary chemicals preserved particularly the crystalline aledehyde from the outside of the leaves which is the substance that causes an unpleasant fishy odor. I've also read that an effective dose is 15 to 20 caps a day, which is cost-prohibitive(for me anyway) using the Zhang formula. So the lack or response could be dose-related.

I spoke with 1stchineseherbs and they assured me Dr Zhang's formula was much more potent.
(a source from China)

1:9 extract ratio of the TRUE fishy herb [Big Grin]

Any other bulk houttuynia won't have the smell and won't have the potency.

I just spent 20 minutes trying to talk hepapro.com into expanding their customer base (with cheaper prices!) and netting higher profits.

In my experience foreigners don't have great business backgrounds.

It's simple economics though.
They would EASILY make up the difference in price with a larger customer base.

Not to mention their customers, mostly CHRONICALLY ill patients, tend to need high dose, long term treatments.

I saw somewhere that someone had stumbled upon the company that supplies Zhang and was trying to negotiate a small (1 kg) order. I was unable to find it (the company) myself, but will keep trying from time to time!

Ya but even that order was ridiculously expensive.

Guess you could start an herbal black market

I'm re-posting a comment on my facebook (hopefully I don't get sued for it [Wink] This is not my post.

Hey All!!! I need to tell you guys!! This is my second month of HH for bartonella and....drum roll please...no more screaming shins AND I can walk barefoot on my tile floors!! I have had to wear thick slippers for years now. Now I can wear my thin-soled sandals!! Yayyyyy!! The air-hunger is less often and not nearly as bad and I am not getting abnormally hot!!

I did the Rifampin with orange urine, Zithro...I don't remember the three abx...anyway for 8 months without the results I have now!!!

I communicated with a couple of people who paid Dr. S for a phone consult and they were both told to take 20 of the regular HH capsules a day.

When I started taking it there was no HH2. I started taking 12 a day of the regular HH because that is all I thought I could afford (before the days of Mepron taught me otherwise!).

When the HH2 came out I went up to 10 a day. When I look back at my notes, I ran out for 5 days which is when my symptoms returned really bad. I tried taking a lot of Samento but it did not work. So the HH probably was helping until I ran out and after that it did not work at all. I just got worse and worse.

I remember the post about the man who found the company making the "fishy" HH that is used in Zhang's capsules. I was very interested but could not get any more information. I ordered hout. from 1st Chinese Herbs but it was not the same. The horrible fishy smell and taste is what makes it so good.

I don't think HH will cure you on it's own but taking it with a drug like Bactrim DS might be very helpful.

You're mailbox is full.
Could you possibly PM the name of the person on facebook who posted that ^^

I'd love to ask them questions on dosages etc

nefferdun,

How long did you take HH for?
Is it possible if you would have stayed with it it may have helped more?

Yes I will get more information and clean out my email box when I get home this evening. She is from a private group but I'm sure she would have no problem talking with you. She may even have an account on Lymenet.

More details later.
