OMG - randi - this is the second thing today that you have posted that screams mold! My mother has this same cough and her house is so mold toxic I can't even walk in the front door.

And the unexplained weight gain with no diet or exercise that seems to help... mold.

May health be with you!

Toxic mold was suppressing our immune systems, causing extreme pain, brain fog and magnifying symptoms. Four days after moving out, the healing began.

My husband has had a non-productive cough for 6 months now. It keeps him (and me) awake at night. As for me? I have gained four pounds in one week. And I was even dieting. Mold?? Our house is new (4 years). Is it possible?

i use drain cleaners every other week adn keep the top on the drains.

we've checked all the walls and everything. no visible mold.

it's just a shortness of breath and this cough.

Symptom of Babesia - dry cough for no reason. It's annoying plus my husband has this wheezing sound in the upper chest. Xrays are good

Randi,

I was sure my initial problem was Lyme. I was sure I had it for several years and had many of the symptoms from Burrascano's list.

I went to the LLMD and got all the blood tests and found I had a CD57 of 59 plus symptoms, so Lyme right!

I came back positive for Chlamydia Pneumoniae (CP), not the STD! It is a bacteria that settles in the lungs and causes a dry cough plus a bunch of Lyme like symptoms.

I have had it for at least 12 years but thought it was another Houston based airborne alergy (we have so many). Well it progressively got worse and those infected have very similar symptoms to Lyme.

Note I may still have Lyme but the treatment is with abx and similar to treating Lyme. I am on my 3rd week of ABX and the coughing has almost stopped. When I do cough it is not near as deep and as long. Minor improvement on the neuro symptoms. Also CP is thought to be a precursor to MS.

Check out www.cpnhelp.org. You will learn about it there. It is contagious when you are coughing so others can catch it if there immune system is low.

So note that you may have Lyme but also may have CP that took advantage of a lower immune system.

Yeah, as if our lives are not complex enough with the whole LLMD, ID's, CDC, ABX vs holistic approaches, self treating, media morons, and various treatment rabbit trails we all go down seeking welness once again.

Hope this is helpful. IM me is you need specifics.

Yes, we tested our house for Mold and are without issue.

All the Best, MattH

Have you ever had the air tested?

FYI, I had removed all my carpets, replaced with hardwood... replaced all kitchen/bathroom floors with ceramic tile... replaced most walls and windows in the home... also, no visible mold or mold odor.

When I tested the air I was flabbergasted! The toxic mold that was in the air was making us all sick.

Granted, my son has babesia also... and both of us have lyme and bartonella.

MattH, thank you for the info on cpn. Is it possible to get it from a tick? One of my first lyme symptoms besides arthritis in my wrist was a mucousy cough that wouldnt stop (i even coughed in my sleep). Doc prescribed amoxycillin and it went away. Now two years later im dealing with lyme (i think) and who knows what else. Sounds like cpn is really contagious, any other info you can share?

Tickbiter, Not sure you get it from a tick but the bacteria is omipresent. So what happens is if your immune system gets hammered and it is already in your system it grows without much immune resistance.

Please see the site www.cpnhelp.org. There are several participants with both cp and lyme there recording their experiences. The documents there are also very good and written for lay people.

Since the treatments are similar you can be treating CP first while it will also help against Lyme. Obviously abx may not work on everyones lyme issues but that is the tx for CP.

There is a good test for CP. But for me the cough is what gave my LLMD the indicator and the test confirmed it. Remember though my CD 57 was 59 and I came back positive on some of the WB but not CDC positive. So I may be treating Lyme after I get rid of CP.

I have also noticed my joint pain, knees and hands are not as severe as they were before the ABX.

The protocol for CP is mino or doxy 200mg twice a day until well tolerated. Then add zith once a day, every other day for 3 days until well tolerated then add pulses of flagyl. Note this will change as your symptoms change or improve. So if I have lyme I will be killing bugs while killing the CP (yes it is also a bug).

All the Best, MattH
