I saw another post where someone said bentonite clay made them herx.
I wasnt told this was a possiblilty.
I am going to start it in a couple weeks and it would be good to know its a possibility.
I just can get worse at this point. my body just cant take anymore pain and my nervous sytem is all messed up to. So it would be good to know what happened with others.

Yes that was probably me that mentioned the herx to bentonite clay. I am with a great new LLMD who said that bentonite clay (internal) is a fantastic over the counter product that has very powerful detox properties that can cause nasty herx reactions. I know with myself it was so bad I felt drunk and could not walk. I appreciate how reactions to natural products vary with the Lyme patient. You could maybe consider trying it on a weekend (if you work) to see how it goes. Good Luck.

Yes, it can. My LLMD had me take European French green clay. I just drank the clay water and I herxed. I spoke with the company and they said to take half a tsp. and just drink the clay water for awhile. (8 oz. water with 1/2 clay left overnight.)
My question for ABhistbuff, did it get better for you? Was it beneficial in any way?

fair to say that the reason it causes a herx is because it absorbs the sludge off your colon walls that keeps bacteria, viruses, parasites, etc safe?
Sweep the colon with psyllium husk powder or seed (internal).
Lots lots lots of lemon water and water ! Good luck

How many doses and days before you herxed and how many days did it last?
I have exrutiating pain a really messed up nervous system . no function left. cant sit can barely walk to bathroom from couch or bed.
my mcs reacts to almost everyhting as is (homebound and cant have family or friends visit)
I dont know why i wasnt warned it could make me worse.
maybe i'll start with a reall low dose and if it makes me a smidge worse i am stoipping it.
i react badly to lots of foods (right now i have less than 20 that i think are safe)i think the psylum husk would be a bad idea for me. and i cant eat lemons.

I started taking bentonite clay last week. My LLMD never mentioned that it might cause a herx. He just told me to try 1 teaspoon in water once a day for a week, and if I'm tolerating that well, increase it to 1 tsp. twice per day.
I felt horrible after starting it, but I associated it with another med I started that usually makes me herx.
This thread makes me wonder if the bentonite clay had anything to do with feeling so terrible! I assumed it would just make me feel better b/c it absorbs toxins.

This is interesting. I'm a terrible detoxer and herx with some other detox products but not with bentonite clay. I've taken it off and on for years with no problem.
You can make bentonite shakes (check with your LLMD first though)
Recipe from the curezone forum
Recipe and instructions for P & B Shakes
Mix 1 tablespoon of liquid bentonite and 1 teaspoon of powdered psyllium (or 1 tablespoon if using whole husk psyllium) with 8-10 oz of water, shake and drink immediately. Follow this with another 8-10 oz glass of water.
For this method to be successful, you must drink a LOT of water so that your body will be flushed of the toxins.
Psyllium and bentonite shakes should be taken on an empty stomach, at least one hour before or after taking any supplements, medications, food, etc.
*Follow your LLMD's instructions on how often but from my reading this is what is generally recommended for cleaning the gastrointestinal tract:
Start with one shake a day and slowly increase to between 3-5 shakes per day. You may need 3-5 shakes a day for several weeks before you start passing mucoid plaque. Continue taking the shakes as long as mucoid plaque is being eliminated for up to 6 months.
Each cleanse should be followed with the use of a good-quality probiotic to replace beneficial bacteria. Maintenance cleanses should be done 2-4 times per year.
If constipation should occur while doing this cleanse
1) increase daily water intake
2) use enemas or colonics to clear out released material and get things moving again, and
3) cut back on the shakes or stop the cleanse until the bowels are moving regularly again.
You can follow your normal diet but in order to get the best results try to reduce or eliminate meats, dairy, flours, sugars, processed foods, toxic exposures of all types and anything that is mucoid-forming.
The diet should include lots of fresh vegetables and fruits (if tolerated), fresh juices, salads, soups, etc. Liquid minerals including trace minerals and electrolytes are beneficial for creating an alkaline state in the body and can improve the results of the cleanse.
Hope this helps, Terry
