My husband has been on antibiotics for 5 weeks. He has been bedridden, headaches, body aches, miserable, extreme fatigue, and sweating some sort of waxy, oily substance.

Is this herxing???

Decision made with ND to order IgeneX.
Complete Lyme Panel plus Western Regional CoInfection Panel.

This is a financial hardship to us - $1135 bucks

Are these the right tests for a first step?

How long should he be off antibiotics before we test?

I won't be able to afford these again for at least a year so we need to get it right.

Any suggestions?
Thanks in advance, BPLadybug

It's best to be off abx for 10-14 days before testing.

You could go with only the Western Blot plus coinfection testing in order to save money. The WB is around $200.

Test #188 and 189 .. www.igenex.com

If you qualify for low income at all, you can get a discount on the IGeneX testing through www.lymetap.com -

I googled symptoms for Lyme, babesia, bartonella and ehrlichia to see whether I thought I matched any. My test results matched what I thought I had and didn't have.

You could check casually that way to see whether you think you need to spend money on testing for any of the co-infections. This is just my opinion - I am not a doctor.

Well, his ND strongly wants the coinfections test.

IgeneX referred me to Lymetap.com. My income is a little to high for their requirements plus I have insurance (which I seriously DOUBT will reimburse me even at 50% for the tests)

Randy has been sooo sick for so long - I want to get a handle on this, and not be testing a little here and a little there. I will just take it out of my savings. We need to know. His tick bite was 20 years ago and he has gradually developed symptoms over the years. But the last year or two he has been debilitated.

14 days after the abx??? ok
and that is herxing?? whew
this sucks
