I know I have candida, well I guess I should say I am pretty sure I do, since I have frequent yeast infections, crazy sugar cravings, and have been on abx for a long time.
I have horrible periods starting with a solid week of PMD from hell; mood swings, "blah" feeling, anxiety, paranoia, irritability and overreacting to things... it is something I dread each month. I would prefer the cramps over the PMS, honestly. But the cramps are brutal too.
Is it possible that if I actually DID decide to try to get rid of the yeast, that perhaps my menstrual symptoms would improve?
I did give up gluten about 4 months ago but not sure I can get rid of sugar.
Is it possible? Has anyone had true success by eliminating candida?

i have been pretty successful with a combination of gluten/sugar free diet, diflucan and antifungal herbs (garlic,, pau d'arco, marshmallow...lots of herbs work) also coconut oil and now lauricidin. I think you HAVE to reduce your sugar intake to almost zero to have a chance. Gotta starve it. Now that i feel like its under control i allow myself sugar in the form of green apples and other things i shouldnt eat but not too much. Also low carb will help alot...check out yeastfreeliving.com and also wholeapproach.com

SSRI antidepressants can fix the premenstrual syndrome. Magnesium and fish oil might help too.
Systemic enzymes like Wobenzym will reduce hypercoagulation, which can cause menstrual cramping. Magnesium too.

Dear canaanbites, I may have Endometriosis and have a raging case of Candida as well. I tried to go low on the carbohydrates, but it nearly killed me. They say you are supposed to for destroying Candida, but my low blood sugar is a constant issue. Excruciating menstrual cramps are something I have had from my first period. These issues run on both sides of our family.
Two or three weeks prior to my period, I used to get insomnia, nightsweats, hot flashes, nausea, cravings, and bad moods. Bleeding was often heavy, and would require a super-plus tampon per hour for the first few days of a seven-day cycle. Within a couple of years, an ovarian cyst was found. The doctor tried me on three different birth control pills, which only made the problem worse. In less than a year, I had four more cysts. Each ovary had two cysts all at once. Testing revealed anemia had resulted from the excessive bleeding.
An OB/GYN gave me options. Depo-Provera shots halted my cycle and for a while seemed to help. However, cramping that I thought was IBS due to it being accompanied by diarrhea has more recently been revealed to be hormonally-related in nature. I went off of the Depo-Provera, and soon experienced menstrual cramps equivalent to labor pain. They were so intense that I would break out in a sweat and be immobilized while a sensation like a lightning bolt shot from my uterus down into my rectum. Ovarian pain also was present, and bloating and having a full sensation in my lower abdomen also occurs.
Hormone testing revealed normal estrogen levels, but extremely low progesterone. Morning-sickness is not something only pregnant women have! I have been this way for years, and all of the women in our family have suffered the same misery. It truly is debilitating. Upon doing research, it was discovered that many foods, hygiene items, and cosmetics contain xenoestrogens or phytoestrogens. Reducing my intake of non-organic meats and dairy, cottonseed oil, safflower seed oil, sunflower seeds/oil, cumin, basil, bay leaves, cloves, thyme, sage, chamomile, wheat, rye, and various other foods has helped. Taking Evening Primrose Oil daily along with bio-identical hormone cream has reduced the suffering.
I still feel very rough frequently, but have added foods that fight estrogen dominance into my diet as much as possible. Trying to consume at least a couple of servings daily of pineapple, figs, cruciferous vegetables (turnips, cauliflower, broccoli, cabbage, etc.), citrus fruits (grapefruit, orange, lime, lemon, tangerine, pommelo, etc.), buckwheat, corn, millet, tapioca, and some others helps counteract ingestion of estrogens when it is not avoidable. Switching to a natural anti-wrinke/anti-aging cream made a huge difference. Most commercial ones have pregnant mares' urine in them. Before I started using Noah's Naturals, my breasts were so sore that my shirt brushing against them made them feel as if their tips would fall off! Nausea was even more intolerable despite taking medication. I hope this helps!

Dear Lymetoo, I have tried eating a lot of vegetables at frequent intervals, but my glucose still gets low. Any other ideas? Is quinoa alright to add to the vegetables? It at least has some protein to even out the rate at which carbohydrates are absorbed. The Zone at least kept my blood sugar at 67 most of the time. That is still a little low, but not intolerable.
