Hi.
I'm looking for referrals and recommendations for LLMDs (lyme literate medical doctors) in the Washington D.C. area. Travel to Virginia or Maryland is also possible. Doctors that accept Blue Cross insurance would be preferred, but I realize that this may not be possible, so I'm happy to get any names at all. I'm actually feeling so desperate that I'd travel anywhere in a four hour radius for a good doc. This would be regarding a possible longstanding Lyme infection in an adult (me).

Primary care doc just said "we don't have enough test evidence to show Lyme infection, and even if we did, there's really nothing to do about it anyway treatment-wise." This sounded unacceptable, as from my research Lyme should be clinically diagnosed (and my symptoms seem to fit the bill), and can progressively worsen without treatment.

Suspected date of infection was Spring or Summer of 2009. Stupidly, though my dog was diagnosed and treated for Lyme that summer, it didn't occur to me that my sudden, acute onset of joint pain and fatigue could also be Lyme until early Fall 2009, when I was given a 3 week prophylactic course of antibiotics, but had no blood testing done. Symptoms returned, and I was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia in January 2011. I still suspect Lyme, and so had recent testing done:

July 2011 test results: Quest Diagnostics

1. Lyme Disease C6 AB wRFX: Positive: 2.91 (index: negative <=0.90, positive >=1.10)

2. Prof-Lyme Disease IGG, M WB - "Negative"

41 kD IGG band: Reactive

18, 23, 28, 30, 39, 45, 58, 66, 93 kd IGG Bands: Nonreactive

3. Lyme Disease (IGM), WB - "Negative"

23kD IGM band: Reactive

39, 41 kD IGM Bands: Nonreactive

Though my Western Blots show Negative for Lyme by CDC standards, I'd like to see someone good, if only to really put my mind at ease that Lyme is not the cause of the problem.

Thanks for reading this!
