My doctor does not think I have bartonella. He tested me for 6 subtypes but not B. vinsonii and all results were negative. I have classic symptoms(even a red streak), but he did his muscle testing thing and did not find it. I am taking clindamycin and flagyl for Lyme and Babesia. I also take buhner herbs including cryptolepis(1.5 tsp per day). I am not ready to leave my current LLMD yet.

I'm desperate to aggressovely treat the bartonella, but will not apparently get abx specific for bart from my doc. BTW, he says that the clindamycin has some effect on the bart and he will not prescribe levaquin or cipro for anything(thinks it's going to be taken off the market soon).

I am prepared take 11 tabs. of HH-2 if necessary(despite ridiculous cost) and which is a good high dose for my weight(112 lbs) or Byron White A-bart. I distrust the Byron White stuff for no real reason! However, I don't want to throw money away. I will be spending $5 - 6 hundred dollars a month on this illness and we are not wealthy.

Any advice from anyone on this board re EFFECTIVE treatment, including dose? Is it $$ thrown away without a more specific Bart ABX?

Sue

You could always try A-Bart first to see if you get a herx.
Does your LLMD sell it?

If not there are other practitioners who do. I don't know the rules on if a LLMD who isn't treating you can sell it to you. Not sure. I know my doc sells it at cost which is very nice. They run around $80 a bottle otherwise. She sells them to me for $55 or $56.

Thanks, Fyrecracker. Yes, he does have an arrangement with Bioresources, so maybe I would get it at cost. Just feel it won't be aggressive enough. I seem to be able to cope just fine with the highest doses of everything without noticing any reaction.

You can buy Byron White formulas including ABart at Forest Health.

I believe you need to get a password, you can just call them or e-mail, it's very easy. I dont know why they need a password.

I know what you mean about not being wealthy and the cost of the HH. I found Houttuynia 10gm in a packet you just mix in 4 cups of boiling water for 1 min then drink 1 cup 3 times a day---that's the direction on the package but that would be a lot more than 3 tabs a day of the HH so I will have to start much lower. One packet is .35 so it's worth the try. I also read on the goodbyelyme.com site about adding carrier herbs or mixing them together in the same tea. I found it at east earth trade.com under Sanjii extracts. I am not affiliated or advertising for any of this just sick and trying to get well without losing my home in the process.

hmm. well, you do know your body best, so go with your gut.
I've heard it go both ways here with the BWF's. Some say it's too strong, others say it's too weak.

I can handle a good amount of antibiotics also, but BW def does something for me.

Others have reported being on many abx for bart and switching to BW and basically getting the job done. Sometimes it takes both.

Guess all we can do is experiment on ourselves. I think we should all have a white lab coat at home with our name on it [Razz]

We have tried several things to get rid of bart in our family (all 5 infected). 2 years of abx helped the symptoms but did not completely eradicate it. HH did nothing, but we weren't taking a high dose. Cryptolepsis didn't do much for it.

What got rid of it for us was Cumanda from Nutramedix. We also took Samento with it, which can hit bart to some degree. Cumanda hits it the best, in my opinion. We never took A-bart, so I can't comment on that.
