I would like to know this too, as I'm considering purchasing some kind of infra red sauna, or mat or something.
Which kind do you have bearly? I've heard great things about the biomat, but very expensive.
I've just had so many more sx's coming at me lately I need to change up something..I know a new doc is in order, but while I am waiting for that, surely something else can help.
Thanks for any input.

Do you have to be on ABX for it to work? Or does it work on it's own?

Any type of detox can cause a herx. I used to herx from taking the epsom salts baths.
A couple of my dr's even use the term "detox reaction" (which was very confusing to me at first!)
I love my I/R sauna and have been able to use it this week with the cooler weather. It will help me make it to an important wedding on Saturday.

For me, I don't think I ever herxed with it - it made me sweat -
and after five months of doing that, once a week sweating for the hour's time, I then became less chemical sensitive, since I must have sweated out enough toxins by then.
I had to shower off immediately after doing a sweat to get the toxins off my skin, otherwise it would be like getting a case of poison oak.

According to my llmd, heat kills Lyme. He recommended I get a Biomat because it is not only the best heating device out there (infrared heat with crystals), it does much more including penetrating 6 inches into the body and supporting the organs. Other saunas or mats don't do this.
I will bring up recent posts on it.
I used it with abx and it helped me achieve remission. I know of others who used the Biomat without abx and are in remission. Everyone is different. I was extremely ill; misdx for many years so I needed both.
It may or may not make one herx; it is always best to start slow just in case.
In general, it is safe to use if you have amalgams. If in doubt, check with you llmd to be sure.
