I am seeing a new LLMD today, so I want to make sure that I get the right meds prescribed.
Does anyone know if it matters if I get my antibiotics in CAPSULES or TABLETS? Is one more effective or have less side effects than the other?
Also, does anyone know the difference between Doxycycline Hyclate or Doxycycline Monohydrate? I think I have the Doxy Monohydrate tabs from Mylan Pharmaceuticals.
Does the generic manufacturer matter? Anyone have good luck with one brand over another?
I am going to try to get a Doxy or Mino + Zithro + Rifampin combo to knock out what I think is bart (terrible neuro and psych symptoms). Anyone have luck with this combo?
I just want to make sure I'm getting the best stuff possible to treat with!
Thanks much!
KJ

I don't think it matters if you get capsules or tablets. Some abx only come in capsules and come only come in tablets. I don't think you have a choice, but I could be wrong! I go with generic when I can and it has been fine. Your insurance may only pay for generic if it is offered.
Not sure of the diff. between Doxycycline Hyclate or Doxycycline Monohydrate.
I am on Mino right now with Biaxin. Have not been on for that long so I can't say if it has helped a lot. Good Luck!
