I have had the major lymes symptoms for the past 3 months and have finally, at my wife's asking, gone in and asked for a blood test specifically for lymes. Sure enough - POSITIVE. Is it best to go to work with lymes or, if possible, stay home and recover fully until the meds and symptoms have cleared my system? Any insight would be appreciated.

Lyme treatment can go on for years, if you work, you should keep working if you can. If you have a doctor who is saying it only needs three weeks of meds, you should post in seeking a doctor and find a new one who will treat you adequately.
Welcome to Lymenet .... I'm sorry you have the need to be here. You can beat this, though. It took three years, but I am now well. I was bedridden by the time I found treatment, so it probably won't take you as long since you caught it so much sooner than I did, but you should still find a doctor who will treat you until you are well.

MJ..not to scare you..but I also had symptoms for 3 months before my diagnosis..and it is now 18 months later and I am still treating.
THere is a lot to learn. GEt to an LLMD (Lyme Literate MD) as regular docs will only treat you for 2-4 weeks which isn't enough.
WHile my treatment has been long..I've been working the whole time and I'm pleased to say I'm 95% recovered

Lyme treatment takes a very long time, so do what you can while you can, because you never know when youre going to be able to do it again (i think that should go for life in general).
Its not contagious for you to be at work or anything like that.

Keep working and keep health insurance coverage.
Once you start treatment you may feel worse before you get better. I reduced my work week down to 4 days a week to help deal with this (The pay cut heart more, but stayed in insurance plan.)
