We think my son has giardia and related infections from drinking from a contaminated well over a month ago. He just took 7 days of flagyl and initially made improvements for the fisrt few days (started eating again) but then backslid with abdominal pain and weakness and inability to eat very much.
We are now trying rizol gamma (Dr. K's product) but I am concerned this will not work. He is very weak and doesn't want to get off the couch. He had a dose last night and this morning and we have seen no changes. I am very worried about him. He is getting dark circles under his eyes now.
Thanks for any input you have on giardia treatments.

Thank you for sharing! I have been so concerned. Glad to hear that Tini worked after the Flagyl. I'm curious, did you get lightheaded and short of breath from Giardia? What were your symptoms? Did you have low abdominal pain? My son does not have diarrheah now - he only had that for one day.
I am hopeful that the rizol gamma is working. He started finally eating better again today. But this happened at first with the flagyl and then it stopped working. Did that happen to you? Did you initially have an improvement on the Flagyl?
I will ask for tinidazole next if the gamma doesn't work.
Thanks again for sharing - it gives me some hope!

ticksick-
One more question - how long were you on Tinidazole? I have read that it is a single dose! That does not seem long enough to me!
Thanks, tickbattler

I think I did 7 days of tinidazole.I didn't feel lightheaded, just lots of explosive diarrhea and lower abdominal pain which didn't completely clear up with metronidazole. I think this was all pre-lyme though
