Hi, Daughter has had several episodes during sleep that she says" dream not breathing and I wake up and I am gasping for air."
I tried doing a search for sleep apnea on this board, but did not find much information.
Anyone of this board diagnosed with sleep apnea? What were your symptoms, etc?
Thanks for any info- My nerves are fried!!! We tried retreating Bart and after three weeks of
low dose Zith, Dr. felt she was herxing to strongly to continue. We just cannot seem to make any head way with these infections.
We will be trying a daily dilute Homeopath remedy soon. Dr. feels that Babesia is in the mix . She also has Lyme, Bart and Myco P.
Thanks

It happens maybe when she is detoxing - die-off.
It is better if you sleep on the side, not on the back. Have a pillow so the head is higher and a pillow in the back so she cannot turn to the back.

My daughter has had something similar happen very recently. We had just increased A-Bart and added in Cumanda, second night afterwards she had her first drenching night sweat ever, third night she felt like her throat was a bit tight and had some difficulty breathing- this only lasted a few minutes.Other subsequent nights a burning/ itching sensation in her skin in some places. So I think for her it is a Bartonella herx. We now give some burbur and parsley for detox support as needed plus I just started with giving her some apple pectin at bedtime. Last night she slept peacefully the first time since increasing her meds.

Many of us have sleep apnea related to Lyme and co. I'm sure others will respond.
Babesia seems to be the worst culprit for causing sleep apnea, but likely is not the only player.
My atypical apnea (not obstructive) was diagnosed 8 years before my Lyme. My symptoms were exactly like your daughter describes. I've been on CPAP ever since. It works to control the apnea.
I have heard that the apnea resolves with treatment.

Thanks for the replies.
Has anyone overcome this by treating the infections and not using a CPAP?

One of my doctors thought sleep apnea was causing my morning headaches and fatigue. I also had atypical apnea (not obstructive) and was given a CPAP machine. It did nothing for me.
My apnea resolved with TBD treatment. The headaches were from ehrlichia and the fatigue was from lyme, babs and probably a little mix of vitamin/mineral deficiencies. Probably also from gluten. If I avoid gluten, I do so much better fatigue/pain wise. Same with my daughter, who had lyme and strep.
With what I've read in this forum and other places, sleep apnea and reflux go hand in hand with bartonella. I agree with the other poster, sleep on left side, stay elevated. I do this too as my bart has still not resolved 100%.
Good luck. It is so hard with the kids. Heart breaking really and very scary. If I had listened to my pediatrician, my other daughter (who has myco & babs), would be on Miralax and anti-anxiety meds.

Thanks Jackie, Sorry you and your children are dealing with these infections.
Our daughter is gluten free, diary, and a few others.
She has been off/on treatment since 2008. I feel the same way Jackie... If I had listened to her Drs. back then, she would of been on the Miralax, anxiety meds, and allergy meds. URH!!!
It is scary----Best of luck to you and children.
