I'm scheduled to see a LLMD in September, and have been sick since July with what is most likely Lyme or a tick borne illness. (Was bitten by a tick and became very sick 2 days after. Got neurological symptoms and severe pain within days.) I'm wondering if being on antibiotics for 2 months before getting tested at Igenex will influence the outcome of the results? I tested negative on the ELISA and Western Blot.

Of course it will be great if I am negative, but does anyone know if the testing will show that I was infected? I'd love to at least get a diagnosis, just to put an end to all the questions of what made me so sick?

Thanks so much!

My son was on antibiotics for almost a year when we sent in his IGeneX test. It came back positive. He also had a previously negative WB from a regular lab.

I would email IGeneX and ask them about antibiotics and the particular tests you are ordering. They will let you know if it's okay. Or you could always wait and ask the LLMD.

It could make your test show MORE bands .. esp if you go OFF antibiotics 10-14 days before being tested.

Good idea, I'll try e-mailing Igenex. And you are right, I do know what caused me to be sick. I guess I'm just wanting that scientific confirmation. [Smile]

According to the infectious disease doctor I saw, I had no bands on my western blot. Do you know if Igenex does a more specific version?

Thanks for the feedback!

Igenex is the only lab that tests for ALL possible bands.
