Thanks for putting up with my probably stupid questions, but what is the deal with taking Doxy and Calcium again? I thought I read somewhere that you are not supposed to take the two together because it decreases the effect of the Doxy? Is that right? But now I can't find it!
If so I assume this also includes calcuim containing foods also like milk, cheese, yogart.
So how long do you have to wait after taking Doxy before you can say eat yogart? Or how long do you have to wait after eatting yogart before you can take the Doxy?
Thanks!!

I saw this on the Wikipedia site for Doxy. (I know it's not all that, but I think this info is fairly reliable because it is originally from a pharmaceutical text book)
So I am answering my own question for anyone else who might be interested:
"Individuals eating yogurt for beneficial bacteria (to counter antibiotic-induced diarrhea) should not eat it WITHIN THREE HOURS [[I added the caps]] before or after taking a dose of doxycycline, as calcium content in dairy products can interfere with its absorption by being chelated by it. For the same reason, antacids containing calcium and/or magnesium salts are to be avoided for at least three hours after taking the drug"
Thanks all!

Oops, I've been doing it within 2 hours. I wonder if 2 hours is long enough?

Well done, good answer you found there. I was going to say 2 hours, but like you, I don't remember where I read that...
I find it very hard to avoid dairy at breakfast... I miss cereal!!! Oh well, anything for health I suppose. Posts: 63 | From Millersville, PA | Registered: Jul 2010

I can't do milk, but I do eat a lot of yogart (and some cheese). I figure the yogart will help with the digestive side effects of the antibiotics.
I am bummed too that you have to wait 3 hours! It seems like a long time. But if I have too I'll give that up for a while too!
