Recently went to hospital with what seemed like heart attack like symptoms. Hospital gave me quite the work up from heart enzymes to stress test and everything in between that had to so with my heart. Every bloody test came back normal...left the docs and nurses at the hospital scratching their heads as it were. I guess what I am asking is...could my current issues be related to Lyme or just stress? I have never in my life experienced something like this and I have been hella stressed in the past. Any answers would be great! Posts: 98 | From Maytown PA | Registered: Apr 2011

Costochondritis and/or magnesium deficiency could give you those type of symptoms. I suppose they didn't suggest either one to you?

Nope, only thing they said was out of balance was I was low on potassium. Everything else was fine... First time in my life I ever felt something like this. Still kinda weak, out of breath from time to time...taking it easy as I can.

Ok, so potassium is pretty easy to address. Have a banana, gatorade, or add a packet of electrolytes to your water. But it is a crucial mineral and will cause issues depending on how low you are. I actually take a potassium/magnesium supplement numerous times a day as I have the same issue.
I'm sure they didn't test your magnesium levels. Potassium and sodium are part of a regular CBC they would order in the ER. Magnesium needs to be checked at the cellular level and it not a test commonly ordered(LabCorp does this test).
Have you tried taking a warm (not hot) epsom salt bath? Espom Salt = Magnesium. However, you should use 2 cups of Espom Salt and 1 cup of Baking Soda so the bath does not leech your potassium.
Be sure to only spend 20 minutes in it, and drink a large glass of water BEFORE and AFTER.
And of course if you feel lightheaded at any time get out of the bath immediately. I suggest only trying this if someone else is home and keeping an ear out for you, as sometimes people can get quite dizzy in the bath.
You could also try a heating pad on your rib area - costo causes muscular issues that typically cause 'referred pain' elsewhere, usually in the chest. You get rid of the spazm one place and the pain in the other place goes away.
I get this, and like you, went to the ER first time it happened. Went to a cardio, full workup, and nothing. For me, it's all muscular. I just have to remember to recognize it for what it is and address it accordingly.
I use a mini-trampoline which often frees up a lot of these type of issues (caused by magnesium deficiency). The bouncing motion releases adhesions and spazms.

Out of breath can be a symptom of Lyme, but it may be Babesiosis. Babs attacks the red blood cells thus interferring with the oxygen supply.
When I walked up a hill or flight of stairs, I was out of breath. My LLMD in NY told me it indicated Babesiosis.
Sent a Personal Message (under Spinal Tap). In the "Guidelines", check Piroplasmosis (Babesiosis) on p.22 under Co-Infections. Also recommend that you print a copy. Excellent info to have available all the time.
