I have had Lyme for about 13-14 yrs (misdiagnosed). Treated for the past 4. Lyme, Babesia, Bartonella and it has totally messed up my Thyroid. Actively treated for severe, chronic depression, anxiety, tend to be OCD.
Last night, after watching a program, I all of a sudden realized I didn't have a clue who I was. For about a full minute I was at a total loss and felt very detached. Then it was like one part of me came up with information to tell this "stranger"... "your name is.., you are the mother of three..."
I still felt detached from "me" and spent several minutes thinking about this stranger's personality and trying to decide if I liked her. VERY weird. A total of about 5-7 minutes before I felt like the two were connected. I have never had this happen before, I have felt detached (seeing myself from the outside, floaty) before. I thought I was going crazy. My Lyme doc says it is called "depersonalization", the Babesia run amok. He has taken me off Rifampin (part of my heavy/pulse dosing abx regimine) and put me on minocycline, also adjusted my pysch drugs down a bit.
Anybody experience this?

Yes I've had in since 2006. Can't answer how to fix it other then going through treatment.

This is still one of my major issues - I've had pretty bad neuro Lyme for quite some time. My personality is way off, its given me anxiety and depression like I've never known and really, thought possible for me.

I had this "back in the day" and thank god it is gone. When I had it, it felt as if I was sitting inside my head..looking out at the world through my eyes. It was like someone else was "driving" and everthing looked like it was on TV or through a camera lens / fishbowl.
Doxy, Flagyl, Biaxin, and Amantadine helped me.

I had the same "outside looking in" feeling a few times during during my LD treatment, but it went away as the abxs began to work.
I also had the same feeling (but it was even worse) when I was prescribed Trazadone for insomnia. Depression meds can cause this feeling. It went away when I stopped the Trazadone about 2 weeks later.
I switched to temazepam and later to remeron for insomnia and did not have any "detached" feelings with those meds.
