Hey, guys [Smile]

I've been prescribed Lyrica 75mg once daily (before bed) and I'm scared to take it because I've been reading peoples' stories of extreme weight gain from it.

My LLMD said that the people who gain weight from it take much higher doses and take it multiple times a day.

Do any of you who are knowledgable about Lyrica think I'd gain weight at the dosage I'm at?

Hi, I too have a prescription for Lyrica for my peripheral neuropathy but I have NOT filled it. I just feel like I'm on so much stuff already... so I'll hold off on that one for now. What are you on it for?

I was prescribed Lyrica (100mg) to help with sleep and neuropathy pain. I took it once a day before bed.

It made me feel a little woosy off balance and a little drowsy during the first couple days. That went away quickly and there were no long term side effects.

It did help me and I would have continued taking it but my insurance changed with the new year and refuse to cover it. I heard horror stories about people struggling to wean off of the Lyrica. I had been on it for well over a year. I had to stop it pretty quickly having less than 2wks worth of meds. I ended up doing fine.

If you think the Lyrica might help you, don't be afraid to try it. If it helps you feel better you'll be able to get out and do more.

I took Lyrica, 75mg 2 or 3x per day a few years ago and I didn't gain any weight. As a matter of fact I lost weight. I was on it for about a year and a half. It dulled the pain. Oh, and I had no trouble getting off of it.

Now that I am taking antidepressants I have put back on all the weight I lost and then some.

After 3 years of steadily increasing dosage (was at 200mg, twice a day), had to discontinue as my pain was increasing to an intolerable level. Body just became too tolerant of it. Had 60 lb. weight gain and every side effect listed for it.

Please, please be careful of this medication. It literally had me bed-ridden for about a year.

Withdrawal was done in increments and still took about a year to get off.

Good luck and I hope everything works out for the best.

PC said insurance would not prescribe lyrica but he could do gabapentin.

So for the first time in years, I started sleeping through the night.

Less pain also.

Yes. I have gone from a size 10 to a size 18.

I have tried stopping it several times or just taking it at night.

But, the weight gain vs the ability to sleep and move my body a bit more...still have lots of pain but it is much worse without it...

So, I take the gabapentin and am thankful for it.

I gained weight alone when lyme and company hit. I think I went from a size 10 to a size 14.

then started taking the gabapentin and went from size 14 to size 18.

I don't like it. but, I don't like not getting my sleep and the pain taht is worse than the weight gain in my case.

I was on the lowest dose of Lyrica available (75mg?) when I was told I had fibromyalgia. It did nothing but make me gain 40lbs!
I got the 40lbs off as soon as I stopped taking it.
Now I take gabapentin, nortriptylline and a muscle relaxant for my PN. My weight has been stable until I started taking antibiotics 6 weeks ago - now I've gained 10lbs! [Frown] . Not sure what thats about.

I have Lyme - but it doesn't have me.
