Any great tips on how to deal with memory loss. My biggest issues are... Short term - i.e. can't remember what someone just told me, or have a thought about doing something, go to do it and can't remember what it was. and word/name recall
Just yesterday I was taking my son somewhere and had to ask him where we were headed. Thank god he's 16... maybe he should be driving!

I know what you mean! I actually forgot my son's name for a brief moment one time. I was looking at him thinking, now what the heck do I call him!
Lyme and co-infections cause all kinds of mental problems but memory loss seems to be a biggie. I regained a lot of mental function treating babesia.
I take the supplements that are supposed to help with dementia such as Acetyl L Carnitine (along with Alpha Lipoic Acid), coconut oil and omega 3 fatty acids (fish oil).
Two other things to try are high dose niacinamide (1000-2000 mg) which also helps nerve damage and supports the immune system.
The other is a drug, low dose naltrexone (LDN) which is used for dementia as well as boosting and regulating the immune system. LDN is very good for lyme, auto immune diseases and cancer. It stimulates endorphins so you feel calmer which is another plus.
But nothing will work to clear up your mind until you address all the infections. I sometimes wonder if I will ever feel completely normal again. When I remember a name, date or place, I feel like an absolute genius. It is very satisfying to look at someone I haven't seen in awhile and know who they are!

Buhner recommends some stuff for the cognative effects of Lyme/Coinfections - Ginkgo, vincamine, and I can't remember the others... Yes, I have the memory issues as well, LOL!

For years now, when I drive to an appointment, I write down the destination, phone, etc., and put the paper on the seat next to me. Sometimes I bring along a map of the city, in case I have to detour or if I make a wrong turn.
The supplement that provided the most dramatic return to normal mental functioning for me was Resveratrol. I was trying to ramp up to a big dose, as per Buhner's protocol, and within a couple days the brain fog lifted and I could THINK again.
But I had such awful kidney pain that I stopped everything. When I tried one tablet of Resveratrol, the pain returned, so I've never taken it again.

Thanks everyone. I'm still new to this - still getting used to the idea of a diagnosis! I love getting answers and recommendations instead of blank stares.
