Ok. So my husband who has shown little interest in my Lyme just asked if he could get it from me. Told him it was a possibility, but I was unsure. Of course he is freaking out now. Is there any studies prooving or disprooving that lyme is sexually transmitted?

There is no study that I am aware of but I have read (can't remember where) that if it is, it would be from male to female. Both me and my husband have Lyme. Who, when, where??? Noone knows for certain.

This topic has been beaten to death on these boards. There are folks to claim it absolutely can and that you shouldn't kiss, touch, or look at someone otherwise you will give it to them.
Most others, including ILADS, think it is unlikely.

yes please do a search, thers plenty of info. or should i say debate on it. i for one am in the non sexually transmitted camp.

They do touch on this in Under Our Skin. Sean and Mandy think that he may have gotten it from her.
At the end of the show, before they run the credits, they run an update on the people folowed in the film and say Sean's test is indeterminate.
If he has it it would prove the male to female theory wrong.

Hmmmm... I'll do a search. I tried to assure him that he would have it by now since I've been sick for 5 years. He's going to his dr this week. I bet he will ask for a test...which will likely be negative. Hopefully that will help him forget the topic. He's treating me like I have the plague!

Yes...absolutely. And my LLMD has the hubby and I using protection because we can pass it back and fourth. My youngest two were born with Lyme, so it is congenital and I certainly know that Lyme is passed through sexual contact. My ex also has Lyme.

Also wanted to add that I was sick for years and the hubby was fine for years. Now he is sick and + for Lyme. We've been married 13 years

I just ask my ilads dr. and he said yes. My husband got sick in 93 I didn't get sick until 2003. I have to my knowledge not tick exposure, but my husband did the month that he got sick. So the answer for me is YES. It might not happen now but it will and the symptoms might not be the same. He has all the joint stuff and fatigue. I have all neuro and not much joint.

There aren't any human studies that I am aware of. Of course, there also are not any studies involving transmission from mother to fetus; however, there are numerous cases (see Under Our Skin) of LD infected mothers giving birth to babies who test positive for LD.
All I know is that my wife (who does not have a history of any tick bites) started to have LD symptoms several years after my symptoms started and had a positive Igenex LD test.
Also, my 2 youngest children, who were born after my wife started having symptoms, have exhibited LD symptoms and have positive LD bands.
I do not think any of this is coincidence, so that would put me in the "it is transmittable" camp.

Jason when did symptoms come out for your babies? What are they and when did you test them for lyme? Me and my wife tested positive for lyme too but llmd doesnt want to test baby yet.
