I was informed by my well known llmd's PA in NY that my titer for Tularemia is very high ( through Labcorp)......they suspect that it may be a reliable result. I was placed on doxy immediately and have been referred to Dr.V. and ID in NY.
As you can imagine, I'm very concerned...... I have researched this infection and know that it's possible I could've been exposed since I like to work outdoors in the garden in the Spring and Summer.....I know I'm crazy.
My questions at this point are:
1. Has anyone else been treated for tularemia, and if so, did your llmd also refer you to an ID as well?
2. Does anyone know Dr. V., the ID in NY? Please send me a pm.

If you don't get replies, try doing a search of the archives for the word tularemia.

Lou, I have tested positive for lyme and babesia and have been treated for both as well as bartonella and possible Q fever but the titer for Q was low, so the result was not very reliable.
I am definitely following the advice of my llmd and have scheduled an appointment with Dr. V. ......unfortunately he cannot see me until Ocotber 5th.......I would have thought that once I told the receptionist that it may be tularemia that they would get me in there asap, but all she said was that it was good that I was on abx already.
Thankfully, my symptoms have been rather mild by comparison to what I am reading......had a rash on left eyelid that resolved after a few days with topical cream from dermatologist....some fatigue and sweats on and off etc......feeling better after a week of Doxy.
Txgirl...after hearing my symptoms, llmd's PA ordered a complete lyme and TBD panel (tularemia was included) among other tests from Labcorp since this is covered by my insurance......I have not seen my lab results so I don't know how high the titer is but PA said it was one of the higher ones he has seen and he had two other people with a positive T titer recently. I guess they wanted to see what Labcorp found before doing more expensive tests which have usually been negative for me in the past......I'm sure the ID I will be going to will be doing more extensive testing......here we go again!
