Hello. I was just officially diagnosed today from my Internal Medicine doctor. I was unofficially diagnosed by a friend who is also a dermatologist 2 days ago. Question, my children and I went to almost all locations together in the past 3 weeks while we were visiting family. So I think if I have Lyme then it would mean my kids (both under age of 6) were in Lyme infected areas. I am not sure what the treatment even is for small children. My son said his stomach didn't feel well also and had a couple of small rash spots. But this was before I had my rash (I see now I am lucky to have even gotten a rash). My other child hasn't complained of anything but who knows. What would you do? I don't want to wait till it is too late. Thanks!

My LLMD said she will only treat if we have symptoms. Unfortunately for us our girl has enough symptoms and bands that we can no longer ignore. So we are treating her w/ Amoxicillin.
It's a tough call though when they have no symptoms.

Nice to know you are on top of the situation. I would go to
www.TreatTheBite.com and look under "Treat The Bite!". Dr. B's guidelines there, written based on years of experience.
You can print them out and take to your doctor.
Stay on top of it like you are doing... and good for you for being a careful and concerned mother.

thank you for your reply. I think I will call the peds office tomorrow and maybe one of the LLMD's that are within a 2 hour drive...not sure if they would make any suggestions over the phone.

I have 4 out of 5 people in my family with Lyme disease and both my dogs,
I understand your concerns ,about your children
I dont know if you are being seen by a LLMD
Please treat this disease agressively right away
The problem with many doctors that are not Lyme Literate is that they do not treat lyme disease long enough right away
Treating Lyme disease long enough in the early stages gives you a much better chance of making a full recovery
Most Lyme literate doctors will treat you at least 2 months past being symptom free
The Cdc and Idsa guidelines for Lyme disease treatment are wrong in most cases even for early stage Lyme disease
The problem with mainstream doctors is that they will not treat your children with a posistive blood test
Finding a Lyme Literate Doctor could benefit you in so many ways
I had my older son to 4 specialist in the last year I had 3 western blots done and a elisa
And not one doctor would treat him because we could not get a positive blood test, Even with my family history of 4 out of 5 people infected in my family
I faxed all my sons medical records to My LLMD who requires all his patients to have blood tests done through Igenex labs before he will treat them
He looked at my sons medical records and said You do not have to have any more blood test done
He made a clinical diagnosis based on my sons medical records and symptoms and on his knowledge of treating this disease for the past 25 years
Lyme Literate doctors are the best way to go for anyone dealing with Lyme disease and coinfections
