I have been on 500mg ceftin 2x a day for 2 weeks now. At around day 3-4 felt a bit worse and then a few days later I was feeling better than I have felt in a very long time. I had so much energy It was wonderful. This too, lasted 3-4 day. Now my joint pain is coming back and I feel like little sensations (like tiny burns from a 4th of july sparkler) through out my body. This is new. What the hell is going on. My LLMD just called yesterday to check in to see how i was doing and I was doing great. now I'm not sure whats going on. help

This hopeless life, she wanted no more.
Dead in the mind and cold to the bone,
She opened her eyes and saw she was alone. ~Seether

Herxes come and go and can bring all kinds of symptoms. Sounds like you herxed on day 4 .. very typical...then felt better. Then herxed again.

If you feel that you are having a reaction to the med, call your pharmacist or dr .. but chances are this is another herx.

I def don't think it's a reaction to the meds. I think I expected too much too soon [Smile]

I have chronic lyme so I need a combo of meds for the coinfections. If they fond the lyme early you may need meds for a shorter time. However if you've had it longer where it's gotten into your joints...you will have a few good days a then bad. Basically it means its killing off the bad bacteria. I've been on med's now 4 wks and going through the " herx" effect. It takes time and I truely believe that the med's have helped. I was at the point where it was tough to walk. You should also take probiotics B 12...but check with your doc!!

thank you all. Symptoms started 2 years ago after a flu shot. Strange. It's all just been so confusing. Best of luck to ALL of us.

I always have a burst before a herx. Thats how I know I am doing something. On the cpnhelp.org site they talk about it and the theory is that you have killed a bunch of bugs and it frees up more atp for energy for you. Then the die off happens along with it apoptosis(herx) and your body has to clean it up. I found the next ones hit a little faster.
Both cpn and lyme utilize atp which means less energy for you.
